ftm surgery

Post by JudithF » Mon Aug 31, 2015 1:12 pm

My close friend is considering an ftm surgery in a clinic in Mississauga, McLean Clinic ( ftmtopsurgery.ca ) I have heard that people who undergo a transgender surgery will be having anger, anxiety, depression, fear etc and her mom is quite worried about this. How can we deal with this? Is undergoing a top surgery common nowadays?

Judith,

We do not offer medical advice about any form of surgery on this forum.

We especially do not give such advice to someone who is not a registered member, via a third party.

It is against the law for us to recommend or make any negative comments about the services of a particular doctor or surgeon or clinic.

Having transgender surgery requires the person being properly and sensitively psychologically counseled by someone who is not only qualified to do so, but who is also in the same room as the patient.

At the same time professional counseling is sometimes (but not always) also made available to other family members.

While we wish your friend all the very best in making her important decision, as to whether or not to go ahead with the transgender surgery, we can do no more than that under our rules, and within international law.

Regards,

EoT
