[/i]Truth is the highest expression of love. Love looks you straight in the eye and speaks truth. When we fail to do that, it's generally because we value personal comfort more that another's growth. Love takes a person by the hand and speaks truth and leaves that person better. When truth is lacking, love cannot be found.
Here is a good test to know whether or not truth-telling springs from love: Truth will not only pain those who hear it, it will pain those who speak it. This is tender integrity. Philip Gulley/From his book: Home Town Tales

Truth pains those who don't want to hear it? It pains those who don't want to accept it. It pains those who know that what they have lived and spread were not the truth. Some will ask what it is and will claim that each has their own individual truth. The truth is the truth. It is what it is regardless of what we think of it. What we each have a choice to accept or deny it. What we also have is our own biases handed down to us through our life's experiences, through word of mouth, books and the teachings of others who would claim themselves to be the so-called keepers of the truth, and our own perceptions which may or may not hold a candle to the truth. But love, love is speaking and living the truth regardless of the consequences. Love is accepting. Love is understanding. Love is hope. Love is peace. Love is unconditional.
The truth is God is love, and love will light the way forward.
my opinion anyway...
