7 Ways to Live Life Without Regret

Post by Pravin Kumar » Fri Nov 01, 2013 8:28 am

“I wish I did” are probably the saddest words someone can ever say. Never give yourself a chance to say these words. If you treat today as the first day of the rest of your life, you will never think of the past with pain and regret.

Here are 7 ways to help you live life with no regrets.
1. Hold on to your truth.

As long as you always be you, keep staying true to yourself and keep stirring the passions that are in you, it will never matter how many jobs you switched, how many mistakes you made or how many times you started back at square one. All that matters is that you are living a truth. People who need you will find the real you. You will make true friendships. You will live a real life.
2. Take time.

When one of my best friends recently celebrated her 40th birthday, and after a few drinks, she asked to no one in particular, “How did it get so late so soon?” As cliche as it sounds, it is true that time does not wait for any one. Take time to figure yourself out, to find out what you want in life. Take time and enjoy laughing, loving, crying and forgiving. Life is short – we have heard this a million times, but the very next day, we forget. So, while you can, go out there, take chances, grab what you can and work at it till your dreams come true.
3. Change your thoughts.

Thoughts are powerful, more powerful than you think. Thoughts are capable of creating and destroying. Just take a close look around you and you will see how almost your entire life has been born out of your own thoughts. What you have today was something you were probably thinking of in the past. Plant your seeds of thoughts carefully. If you are not happy about your situation, change your mind about it now and it will all change.
4. Be your best self, always.

Just like negativity can become a nasty habit; so can positivity. The only difference is the amount of belief you have in yourself, and how you use this to grow. Keep the positivity fire burning in you and opportunity and good results will start brewing before you know it.
5. Pay attention to the little things.

When you close your eyes and think about the fun times of the past, you will not think of a big holiday you took, you will think of the romantic walk you took with your loved one during that big holiday. You will think of the lovely meal and conversation you had through that walk. It is the little things in life that bring us happiness, yet we always focus on the big things. Notice the beauty in the small things and enjoy these things.
6. Love openly and honestly.

Whether you like it or not, you are going to lose people in your life. No matter how much time you spend with your loved ones or how much you love and appreciate them, you will never have enough time together. This is a horrible lesson to learn the hard way. While these people are in your life, show them your love, spend time with them, and love them unconditionally with all your heart. You don’t know when you might lose this opportunity.
7. The gift of goodbye.

When some people walk away from you and your life, and opportunities close their doors on you, don’t pray and fret and beg to keep these things in your life. Take it that these things are just not part of the plan of your life anymore. It is nature’s way of telling you that something else is coming up. Embrace these goodbyes and look forward to a great hello.

These are just some ways of living a life without the bitter feeling of regrets. Always believe that everything happens for a reason. Whenever you can, diffuse an argument with a loved one. It takes less energy to love than to argue and to make up later. Enjoy your life with your loved ones and you will always look forward to great tomorrows.
