Inspiration from the spirit world

Post by eye_of_tiger » Sun Jan 10, 2016 6:41 pm

The spirit world has instilled in me that we are here to accept ourselves and the world around us with love and compassion.

Love and compassion is good, but sometimes it is hard to accept ourselves or others?

The best moment to begin an exercise programme (or equivalent feats and endeavors) is when one is feeling strong and underwhelmed...!

Talia,

I completely understand and identify with the point which you are attempting to make here.

Which is of course the common and sobering observation that the stresses in our lives are rarely underwhelming these days.

We are almost permanently overwhelmed?

What is viewed as under of overwhelming is a matter of personal perspective, or opinion.

What is underwhelming to one person, may be completely overwhelming to another.

Also what is underwhelming at one time in your life may be entirely overwhelming at another time, particularly if there are extra stresses being experienced simultaneously in several different areas.

People who are already overwhelmed in multiple areas of their life in general would be expected to have an extremely low tolerance to being able to cope with any further stresses in other areas.

There are always exceptions to any generalised or blanket rule concerned with predicting human behaviour and a person's ability to adapt to any given situation.

We and other people can sometimes pleasantly surprise ourselves by just how well we can cope, in spite of the many stressors which living in the 21st century presents us with.

I was reading about a leaky bucket?

We all have ten fingers so it is fine when the first few holes appear and water begins to leak, even maybe up to 6 holes, as we can spread the load between both hands and 3 fingers on each but when we near 10 holes our fingers are strained trying to reach to plug each hole and then over 10 and we leak :(

One ?wise? coffee-shop recently switched from Styrofoam coffee cups to much thinner paper cups to reduce costs and eco-wastage :-(

Far inferior in thermal-insulation property -- these new replacements turned out to be.

The customers began using three (cup-within-a cup) paper ones instead of one Styrofoam one to prevent their fingers from burning due to the hot coffee (or worse -- dropping the hot cup.

The costs escalated and it turned out that the paper cups were plastic-coated to make them less absorbant but that reduced their `recyclablity`and so the eco-advantage was lower too than the styrofoam ones.

The owner got frustrated and began telling customers to NOT use multiple cups and threatened to raise the price of coffee, etc.

Guess, what the outcome was...? :-(

court cases or feet out the door, and you because you mentioned cards that is all, nothing more dear friend. It would seem that those of us deprived of conversation and topics have made our own nonsensical one?

An important part of accepting yourself and the world is to recognise the sheer absurdity of your own situation and of life in general, but to be able to carry on in spite of this.

There is a proper time and place for both seriousness and us exercising a healthy sense of humour.

We need to find the right balance for us between the two extremes of always taking everything about ourselves and other people too seriously to heart, and taking nothing seriously.

This balance is constantly changing or dynamic, rather than it being fixed or static.

To laugh along with others at yourself and the funnier aspects of life, instead of laughing at them or taking yourself too seriously.

Accept yourself with love and compassion, and a sense of humour.

If you cannot at times laugh at yourself and how illogical and strangely we human beings behave for various reasons, some of them even unknown to us, then your spiritual development and growth will be blocked.

Also on the surface spiritual parables (teaching stories) might seem nonsensical and ridiculous, to the casual observer.

It is only when we look deeper, that we can begin to understand and apply the wisdom which can be hidden just underneath the apparent absurdity of the spiritual metaphor.

This process of looking deeper beyond what is the surface meaning of something can often include discussions involving court cases, feet out the door and styrofoam cups.
