Nail Moons

Greetings to all,

Just a query with regard to the moons on the nails.  

Could anyone provide an explanation as to their presence as an indicator of the bodies circulatory system?????

Upon close examination of the nail moons over a period of time I have noticed that the moons appear to expand / contract at different parts of the day.  The latter, especially during the early morning upon rising.
