I agree with Payewacker about 'needing an encyclopaedia' to interpret some of the decks out there.
Personally, I don't think I can deviate from the Rider Waite for its symbolism and also the pictorial 'story-telling' aspect.

Old Italian Style Tarot Pack

Post by munster » Fri Apr 09, 2010 8:55 pm

My fav deck is an old Italian style tarot pack - I like most others used to use the Ryder w pack but after moving on and my tarot technique improved - I started look more at the symbols and the numerology more. I would recommend that every one moves on from the Ryder w type of packs as soon as possible, they do make life easier but they are not very good for development and I now personally think that the art work is not very good at all - they look childish to me, some people wont like me saying that I’m sure but there is a lot better art work out there: I think!

My current favorite is Kat Black's Touchstone Tarot, but since I'm still getting a feeling for the cards, I do my serious readings with my 20 year old Morgan-Greer deck
