Interesting 3-card spread I did this morning....

Post by AyeCantSeeYou » Mon Jan 25, 2010 6:26 pm

On a whim, I decided to do a fast 3-card spread before I left for work. I use the deck "Legacy of the Divine Tarot." My question was, "How can I best deal with this situation?" I won't go into details on the specifics of the situation, but here are the cards I drew:

1. Past - 2 of Wands

2. Present - King of Swords

3. Future - King of Cups

I was quite surprised at the cards themselves and their placements.

I'll say, swopping Swords for Cups!  So more gentleness and care and attention, kindness and allowing an emotional response.

Bet lots will add to this now I have lol :)

Mmm... Cassie's right. Things seem to be looking up for the future. I'd translate the whole message as 'If you planned well (2W) and keep your wits about you (KS), you'll finally reach emotional fulfillment (KC)'. Just one way to look at it, but I guess you will have gone much deeper in your analysis, right?  :smt002

I hope you're all doing fine. I'm still trying to keep up reading the posts, but hardly have the time to answer any. I'm just updating the links at PW's request today.

Be good and have fun!  :smt020

You bet I've gone deeper into it! I need to update you on that.

3 cards I drew this morning - March 5, 2010
deck used - Legacy of the Divine Tarot

Past - The Chariot (knowing where I need to be, but unable to to stay on one path, my mind battling itself)
Present - The Fool (new beginning, letting go of what was and seeing everything from above)
Future - Queen of Swords (guarding myself from what has happened in the past and using that information as knowledge for what will be)

If I'm way off on how I perceive the cards, tell me!

Although I use Rider Waite, but I see you to be on the right track with your own reading.
What was your question though?

My question: What does this month have in store for me?

If you are looking for a specific period of a month, why bother doing a Past, Present and Future spread for that month? What is the use of the past and the present if you are aiming to get insight about this current month?

I think you will get more insight and guidance if you devoted your three cards for that month rather than waste the two cards about the Past and the Present. I feel you will get a more enriching set of messages towards it if you used the three cards rather than the One (Future) card.

My personal opinion only.

I don't know many spreads to use, which is why I used the past, present, and future.

I hear you. But using 'spreads' is not the be and all. Three cards can give you enough insights about a month or a situation.. you do not need to have a designated 'purpose' for each card. Just look at the cards (Ok.. three is a good number) and see what they tell you.

You could do lots with  3 cards:
* body/mind/heart or spirit
* situation/cause/advice
* inner / outer / ideal
* have / need 2 know / get
* energy / feeling or outer influence / effect
* conscious / subconcious / superconscious
* illusions / knowledge / magic
* lesson / how to present / spiritual ideal
* start / opposition / integration
* idea / critique / how to make the most of your limits
* how you relate / relation / how the other relates to you
* perspective / problem / other's perspective

And so much more...

3 positions and you can do a lot with it

Thank you! That makes perfect sense.

Everything I've read always mentions using spreads, never just cards without a 'set' purpose to them. When I draw the cards, the first card is always card 1, 2nd is card 2, etc.

That was not my point though.
If one wants to know about a forthcoming month and does not have a question... then unprompted three cards will give insights as good as any three- card-themed spreads.
I was not arguing the validity of 3-card spreads.

Thank you for those. I usually find that what I'm asking doesn't even fit into any spread. The only reason I put past, present, and future in my post earlier today was because I figured someone would ask what the cards stood for. Originally, I only numbered them 1, 2, and 3.

AyeCantSeeyou

You said you wanted to know about the current month and then you went on doing a Past, Present and Future Spread. That was my point... I was simply trying to get you more out of the cards by just picking three cards in order for you to get the maximum out of the three cards.

I can enumerate numerous three card-themed spreads......

Unless you had a specific question, then there are a hundred or more 3-card spreads as SS enumerated.
