Jupiter in Cancer

When Jupiter is in Cancer people promote their philosophical and ethical positions based on feelings, emotions, and intuitive information. More than usual, they are passionately attached to what they believe. They may be reluctant to talk about these principles in the first place, and even less revealing of what they think specifically, but they also will get their feelings hurt easily when faced with any kind of argument or opposition.

They may give unusual emphasis to time-honored beliefs ... with the possibility of connections to their heritage, ethnic attitudes, and ancient traditions being especially valued. Fundamentally, they are looking for a sense of "family" in connection with their religious and spiritual world, and thus encircling themselves with like-minded others has distinct priority.

They may be focused on matters of security, be attending to deep psychological needs, and intent on expanding the emotional foundations they will need to rely on in the next ten years or so. They want environments and belief systems that offer and espouse compassion, protection, and a sense of "mothering." Involvement with the world of their imagination and the territory within themselves may prompt a lot of musing, reflection, and daydreaming.

It is much harder now to separate thoughts from feelings. Psychic information such as one absorbs from the surrounding atmosphere is more accessible, more readily honored and used. Thoughts and principles may be elusive and "hard to describe in words" ... but have deep personal meaning to the owner.

Nostalgia, sentiment, and memories may be highly influential in both individual perspectives and in larger social viewpoints and thus affect what is taught, broadcast, and publicized in schools and through the cultural media. Individuals and institutions will be seeking to establish and solidify a sense of "history" ... consolidating the lessons and benefits of the past in order to build on them in the future.

Laws, religious principles, philosophical tenets, and matters of social conscience may deal more directly with circumstances that affect the "family unit," privacy issues, and the need for personal safety. Deep feelings of territoriality and the sacredness of one's home and "personal space" may receive marked attention.

Under stress, expansive efforts, as well as philosophical and ethical posturing, become emotionally excessive or repressed, resentful, blaming, compulsive, paranoid, reactionary, complaining, inhibited, and self-pitying.
