quotes

Post by beawolf » Sun Sep 16, 2007 11:26 am

I have a ledger type book that I have been recording all quotes that I have come across that had some meaning for me. I've had this book for 12 yrs now and it is nearly full.   Finding a favorite is a bit of a challenge, but for who and where I'm at right now it would have to be -   WHAT WOULD YOU ATTEMPT TO DO IF YOU NEW YOU COULD NOT FAIL? or maybe BEING ALONE IS NECESSARY TO KNOW WHAT TOGETHER REALLY MEANS or possibly MAY YOU LIVE ALL THE DAYS OF YOUR LIFE. - JONATHON SWIFT :smt017

My Favourite Quote and the one I have followed throughout life:

"If you want to enjoy your old age work hard when young. If you enjoy your youth then you have to work hard in old age".

This is quote of late "John F. Kennedy"

"Walk softly and carry a big stick." (Teddy Roosevelt)

"It's never too late to be what you might have been."  (George or was it TS Elliot?)

"To be or not to be..." (Shakespeare - Hamlet)

Ingrid Bergman - the secret to a happy life = "Good health and a bad memory!" :)

How about my other favourite.
It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.

Study as if you were to live forever, and live as if you were to die tomorrow.
**Note: I'd prefer to change the word "study" to "learn" though... study reminds me of stuffy classrooms and exams! >_<

If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, then baffle 'em with bullshit.

My nose runs and my feet smells.

I have always liked this one:

Hmmm... a few of mine.

“The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and all science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed.” -Einstein

"Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words
And never stops at all." -Emily Dickinson

"There is a joy in sorrow which none but a mourner can know." - Jean Paul

And of course my signature. :)
