Bird contraceptive

Post by Killing_Smile » Tue Nov 13, 2007 12:03 am

There is a proposal in NEW York City to give bird contraceptives to pigeons because they are too many and becoming a nuisance. Wonder if they could start doing that in some of our neighborhoods. :smt112

Wait until they give the pigeons he contraceptive, then kill a few and invite your neighbours to a pigeon pie party (they do taste good).

In California, well at least in the city I live in, it's illegal to kill them. Apparently it's an Asian delight.

pigeons are the closest/most similar in their lives to humans.  they are monogamous, both parents share in raising the young.  The young are helpless with out the parents.  They have similar instincts on sex, and family life.  An old friend a phsychiatrist used them and their behavior in his family practice.  I used to think HE was carzy - Until I became a pigeon fancier myself.  Now I see their similarities.
No one like "manure" but pigeons are much less offensive than almost all other living things......and they have lived in close proximity to man for longer than most domesticated livestock.  They do taste good to some - but they are a tremdously interesting creature - if you want to give them a chance.  We can learn so much from "pigeon love" - just watch them kiss.......they taught us!

pigeons

did you mean use the pigeon contraceptive  in your neighbourhood ,on pigeons or humans!

a similar story heard on ABC radio national this year was:

scientists were trying to breed a certain type of fly
this was a bit difficult, because flies bred so fast, before they could be selected
so a method of contraception was decided to be found
none could be found to be effective enough
so scientists were looking for materials to make minute condoms for the male flies
this really stretches the immagination
even using nano technology

When they find some let me know I could use it myself.

:smt005  Now, wouldn't that be a little exaggerated? Lovely sense of humor, though.  :smt002

Grab a fly swat, a few mates and several shot guns. Dont forget your raincoats you might just get showered in blood and of course dont go hunting where its illegal.
