Will the earth be destroyed by fire?

The Bible states that the world will be destroyed by fire. Do you believe that or not?

Great question! Or should it even really matter to us? Thanks!

the world ending in fire no perhaps humanity yes what with all the bombs and what not we have today i would'nt be to suprised out of fire comes more life humans systematicaly burnt australia to the ground to get rid of a huge reptile but it made way for diffrent types of animals and more vegitation for them to feed on!
I supose perhaps fire from the sky like an huge asteroid or something of that nature could take out the entire world but it would have to be pretty big. But either way no one should really worrie if its going to happen it will if it wont then it wont nothing we can do about it really.

it is believe among a lot of religion that the prohecys of fire that destroys the earth with be of bombs and such.  will it be completely destoryed by fire, no, don't believe that.  will it burn? most likly but from that enegry new live will spring forth!   and a new way will of life will began and that can't be bad.   :smt020

Well the planet is not destined to live forever, as soon as the sun burns out the earth will not be a place that humans can live.  However prior to that we could be hit by several large pieces of space debris, we could have half the planet blown about in a very violent volcano eruption or human kind could just blow themselves up with the over use of percussion bombs.

I suspect this won't happen in my lifetime or my daughters life time, but in reality human kind could cease to exist tomorrow if the cosmic dice decided thats the case.

Or we could just wait until the Andromeda galaxy collides with our own.  That'll be a fun ride.

You made some good points. I hope you don't mind me putting you on the spot. Some believe it's senseless to even discuss this topic and I certainly understand their reasoning in part. My question to you is this-what are the possible benefits, if any, in having this discussion???
