CAN WE CHANGE OUR DESTINY

Could it be that destiny is not specifically an individual thing but a event in time.  People can influence that event by delaying or speeding it, and decrease or inflate the consequences. We have free will and in doing so we take steps to go down one path or another, constantly coming to junctures that influence the outcome of the event (great events in history and future). Our free will as a whole (mankind) influence the destiny that is written but will come.  Individually we determine our growth through free will as a person on the path thru eternity.  
However certain key people that are pivotal to these events have a destiny to be in a particular place at the right time. Although they have free will and it seems they can do as they wish. But they have been guided in their lives, learning to do the right things.  So that when the time comes they will do what is needed to fulfill destiny.
