Just found this board and it looks pretty cool. I guess I'm supposed to introduce myself so here goes.
As an introduction I thought I would give you a short, boring, synopsis, of my short, boring life.
I was raised Mormon. By the age of 12 I was taking Hebrew lessons at a Synagogue because it seemed like fun. That doesn't really mean anything but it was kind of the beginning of me looking for a religion that made sense...I'm 43 and still looking for one...and I don't remember any Hebrew.
I am happily divorced (11 years married, 11 years divorced..my life is in balance this year) I have custody of 2 kids, a 19 year old son and a 16 year old daughter, my ex-wife says they are mine. (some things you just take on faith) I refer to myself as a single mother all the time but it confuses people online that don't know I'm a 42 year old, fat, white dude. (but I look good in a kilt!). The best years of my marriage were from 87-93, the years I was in the Navy! I now work in building automation. Kind of fun, kind of boring, but it pays the bills, with enough left over so the kids and I can go to Disneyworld every year.
After leaving the Mormons (1981) I looked around for many years for a church. None of them seemed even close to any kind of truth, much less close to any form of god. I'm kind of an Agnostic Hindu right now. (I just love that term, and it amuses the hell out of my dad). Although the Spiritual Humanist make some sense too. (those terms are not mutually exclusive). I believe in a creator, and the creator believes in me, but we don't bother each other really. All I ask of life is rain and quiet thunder.
If any of you guys use MySpace you can see me there at myspace.com/tukarama. To read way too much of my rambling you can go to tukaram.net. It is my domain and I have a few sites there: HO Trains, Hare Krsna, Ultima Online, Java Games, Harmonica, Pirates...all kinds of useless info. But it does keep me off the streets. (sometimes)
