how should i wear a blue sapphire

hello..i have a blue sapphire which someone sent it to me from India.
I want to know what are the rituals to do before wearing it. its a blue sapphire in a pendant ..the case is made out of gold. please reply

this stone is sort of old..i have had this for abou 5 years now..the stone is good but it has a scratch mark behind it. and its sort of dull coloured..is there any way i can wear this or no?
