What is Vaastu?

Definition

VAASTU is derived from the Sanskrit (language in vogue thousands of years ago in India) word VAAS, meaning place to reside.

Vaastu Shastra is drawn from one of the four Vedas (ancient Indian scriptures), which are 5000 years old, and provide specific guidance on how man can conduct himself successfully in various aspects of life.

Vaastu sasthra, which means the science of the built area, is an ancient Indian architectural science.
This science perfectly in tune with the natural law, lays down rules to create ideal conditions for living by connecting individual life with cosmic life.
Vaastu represents a most developed worldview in which in which humans, plants and animals live in kinship.

Vaastu- an ancient architectural tradition of India based on Vedas.

Has developed its building technology on the fundamental premise that the earth or soil is a living organism out of which other living creatures and organic form emerge.

Vaastu by tradition is the life force contained within the earth.

Vaastu also means living space or dwelling space, which is on ‘vaastu’.

Vaastu is the individual site or land identified for a village or neighborhood.

Vaastu is also the building enclosure.

Man does not inhabit this earth alone; He inhabits ‘akasham’ or space. He is linked with his Shakti or energy to other energy form. He is part of a movement, a cycle of life and dealth, which is known as ‘Kaala’ (time). Space, Time and Energy are traditionally primed as existing in their free, unlimited state. Vaastu experts have not only devised an order pertaining to the creation of manifested space, but have also ascertained a link between time cycle and the life of a person.

Vaastu is not about magical cures but about the physical, psychological and spiritual order of the built environment and its consonance with the energies of the cosmic universe.

just observe how navagrahas(9 planets) are positioned in any hindu temple.

each planet will be facing each direction(8 directions) and SUN is in between.

vaastu is a derivation from this and thats it.

SUN - in between
venus - east
moon - south east
mars - south
rahu - south west
saturn - west
ketu - north west
jupiter - north
mercury - north east

according to these planets, their nature, things they control and their facing directions, vaastu sastra is derived...more later..

vaasthu being a derivative of astrology depends a lot on its parent science.

ex : a person who has a bad RAHU in his/her chart, lives in a house with extended south-west during initial stage of his/her RAHU dasa(period).

later, during good sub-periods, he realizes his mistake.

also ppl who are under 'saadesathi'(7.5 yrs of saturn) live in a house with badly constructed toilets

the best way to deal with these 8 corners, their effects/defects is to chose a circular plot and construct a circular house with circular rooms(if possible).
this automatically eliminates the problems of all corners.

in good olden days in india, ashrams, forts of kings and queens were constructed as above, but these days real estate has killed the above concept and only squares and rectangles exist
