The Brahmasthala (Centre part of plot) is most important part of the house. This area should be clean & vacant and should be free from broomstick, brush, shoes, and dustbin; otherwise the inmates of the house will suffer from disease and loss of wealth.
To determine the area of Brahmasthala, divide the plot in to 3 equal parts in N-S and E-W direction. The centre part will be Brahmasthala. For example, suppose a plot is 30’x 30’.If you divide the plot into 3 equal parts each part will be of 100 sq.ft.The centre part covering an area of 10’x10’is Brahmasthala.
