i was just thinking and this thought came to my mind...
how do dreams and what they mean every come into being?
due to statistics?? dream interpretation... how did it all start?
Just a Question!

Well, people always were puzzled at what dreams meant... and have always given it a go at dream interpretation. See for example how Joseph interprets the Pharao's dream (Genesis Ch.41)

Dreams can be roughly divided in several categories (I don't want to get into the Freudian aspect of it http://www.wsu.edu:8080/~wldciv/world_c ... freud.html
but I actually think are really the most important:
1. Day's remanents - what we have done during the day, seen, heard.... what has impressed us during our waking life resurfaces while we sleep. It's a way of "digesting" the day's activity.
2. Roughly, all others. Bad digestion? Cold, fever, sinusitis... too hot? Sleeping with the open window and you just happen to have lost your blanket? Need to go to the toilet (full bladder)? Full moon? Weather changing? Anything can affect the way you sleep and what you dream.
Dreaming is more active in the middle of the night/early hours of morning. I often find myself dreaming when my alarm clock rings, though. These are what I call "last minute dreams"
It's our subconscious taking over, what gets repressed during the day by the logical mind resurfaces at night when we no longer keep in check certain feelings they are free to roam...
Virinchi would say that between 1 and 3am your dreams connect to past lives. It is in fact one of the most active dreaming times.
We tend to dream more when our brain goes through the REM phase

I hope this helps a bit....

They say that what you dream when you are about to wake up comes true, that these are prophetic dreams... Well, I had a couple of those who really came true, but I must say that with the amount of stuff I dream every night, there are plenty more things that should be happening right now....... Considering all, maybe a 1-2% of morning dreams comes true. Well, at least in my case ;)
