Circles and square on lines comments

Post by poxa » Mon Aug 13, 2012 6:00 pm

Hi to all,

I've just started to study I-Ching's book (Richard Wilhelm) and I've noticed that on some comments related to lines in hexagrams, like for example the first and second hexagram, The Creative

() Nine in the fifth place means:
Flying dragon in the heavens.
It furthers one to see the great man.

and The Receptive

() Six in the second place means:
Straight, square, great.
Without purpose,
Yet nothing remains unfurthered.

there's a circle that starts the description/comment.

I've seen many of these circles, and even squares, on different comments through the pages of the book.

Please, I would like to know how to figure out why these symbols are placed sometimes at the start of some comments, someone could help me?

Many and many thanks in advance for your time,
Poxa
