NATIVE AMERICAN SPIRITUALITY AND NONDUALITY

Post by Pravin Kumar » Sun Apr 08, 2018 10:47 am

Native American Spirituality and Nonduality

The first two lines of each quatrain are based on the writings of Ohiyesa of the Dakota, Sioux, Nation and the second two are a poetic nondual commentary.

The Great Mystery that surrounds and embraces,
Brings with it full joy and much satisfaction.
This is Consciousness displaying many faces,
At peace as Awareness, beyond distraction.

This One may be met in prairie and forest,
On spines and pinnacles, in the vast night sky.
All fleeting movements in Consciousness,
Cosmic Energy on which all things must rely.

We believe that holy silence is God’s voice,
In this are courage, patience, dignity and reverence.
Awareness, at rest, is soundless beyond choice,
When identified with This these are also in evidence.

Virtue and happiness are independent of things,
So with our brothers and sisters we share.
Awakening brings joy and so our heart sings,
Seeing all as ourselves for ‘others’ we care.

Duty is recognition of the Eternal and Unseen,
Recognising Spirit we worship all creation.
Awake as Awareness, in an honouring mien
Of Consciousness, essence of manifestation.

The universe shares in its Maker’s perfection,
Its beauty is ever fresh and living.
This essence pervades all with no exception,
So being in nature much joy is giving.

Everywhere we look miracles are readily seen,
The Ultimate is The Divine, the principle of life.
This is Consciousness, all that is and has been,
When identified with That then wonders are rife.
