Relax to Stay Awake

The easiest way to stay totally awake,
Is when, as body/mind you feel the 'ache'
Which happens with this identity mistake
Then again ‘relax for heavens sake’!

Once again the mind may wonder how,
But this is quite easy to achieve,
By noting of this ache you're aware now,
Then don’t let the mind deceive.

For now you’ve passed the simple test,
By seeing that, of thoughts and sensation,
There’s moment to moment Awareness,
Which is your true identification.

Fleeting objects appear on the screen,
Of this constant, perceiving presence,
By viewing which they can be seen,
So This is our innermost vital essence.

For the symptoms of going back to sleep,
Are unnecessary mental suffering and fear.
By being alert to these, vigilance keep,
Relax back into Awareness when they appear.

This is always silent, still, at peace,
Ever aware of things which come and go.
As This mind spinning and fear cease,
Untroubled by the thought/sensation flow.

So relax into That which is always here,
Free of worry and care, our true being,
Pure Awareness, the Absolute Seer,
The ‘audience’ of One this play is seeing.
