A Complete Contemplation

All things are fleeting for they come and they go,
And the separate self is unreal, merely apparent,
There’s only Consciousness, at rest and in flow,
Of Which each is an expression and instrument.

These are four essential steps,
Needed for complete realization,
Missing from many precepts,
Which can cause misidentification.

Recently, with eyes open, in contemplation I lay,
Noticing sensations as they ebbed and they flowed,
Realizing their impermanence, one could say,
And how, after detection, in Awareness they showed.

This is becoming ‘of Awareness aware’,
That’s the constant, conscious, perceiving presence,
Beyond body/mind and free from all care,
Consciousness at rest, our fundamental essence.

Between Awareness and Its manifestation,
Of Which we’re each a fleeting example,
There’s no duality and thus no separation,
Each ‘being’ just an ephemeral sample.

Now everything detected by senses and mind,
Automatically in this Awareness appeared,
By realizing this the fourth step we find,
Physicality as a sensing mechanism geared.

So by this very simple practice,
Of noticing how all thought and sensation,
Appear in Awareness, the fact is,
This fulfils the four steps for full realization!

A new poem based on a chapter of 'Fundamental Questions'.

I write (and read) these posts, based on my meditations and contemplations, as much for my own benefit as for that of 'others'. For this helps to keep me 'awake' in this illusory, and impermanent, world ... our perception of which is based purely on our physical, and mental, configuration.
