Strengthening Awareness of Awareness

Adopt your most comfortable position,
Then note there’s Awareness of thought and sensation,
This is easily completing one’s mission,
Becoming ‘aware of Awareness’ whilst in relaxation.

For ‘noting’ is simply becoming aware of the
Awareness which must be present,
So our experiences we can mentally ‘see’,
Thus we can know of their content.

This practice doesn’t require noticing each one,
Just seeing that there’s Awareness of their flow,
Thus ‘aware of Awareness’ one does become,
Untroubled by objects as they come and go.

If the mind starts to react or complain
Due to the lack of activity or progress,
Remind it that there’s nothing to gain,
For it’s already ‘aware of *Awareness’.

It may then settle and become concentrated,
As every object is a reminder that *This is already here,
Needed for their presence to be demonstrated,
So that in the mind thoughts or sensations may appear.

So each fleeting thing strengthens our awareness
Of the Awareness by which it must be seen.
For mind normally picks which of these to process
By viewing them as they appear on That’s screen.

Beware that time may vanish, along with thought,
As time is apparent by events which in it occur,
When the mind stops following things this ought
To still it, for thoughts and sensations do not it stir.

A poem from 'Poetry From Enlightenment Is For All' based on a chapter of 'Enlightenment Is For All'.

I write (and read) these posts, based on my meditations and contemplations, as much for my own benefit as for that of 'others'. For this helps to keep me 'awake' in this illusory, and impermanent, world ... our perception of which is based purely on our physical, and mental, configuration.
