Hi! Nicole gave you a good link and I want to add some thoughts on my own. Most Barnes and Nobles have some good introductions to working the runes. The two books I have bought are Lisa Peschel's Practical Guide to the Runes and Francis Melville's The Book of Runes. Went for $5.99 and $16.95 respectively. The Peschel text is a good introduction to working the runes but does not have any other background info. The detailed descriptions of each rune, though, is solid. The Melville text covers background and history of the runes. I believe that is important. You are considering the use of a divination system that has its roots in the Germanic peoples. Not being familiar with the peoples and deities (Got Odin?) of those people may be a hindrance. This isn't divination in a vacuum; there is a connection with the people that gave us the runes. I am not much of an expert in spirituality but belief and trust in Odin and Freya has helped me to get really good runecasts.Omjit_23 wrote:I wanna know about runes and its basic principles.

In short, I would suggest reading something about use of the runes and a little Norse lore, then go get some runes (or make them, if you are so inclined). There is a lot of info on all things runic here:

Hope this helps! And have fun!
