Hi.  There are seven main Chakras within the body that are commonly known.  These are the energy centres of the body and are known as the base or root chakra, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye and the crown.  Here is an explanation that was posted some time ago to help you understand it a bit better.  When you are self healing you would be accessing and using some of these chakras we use them all the time without much knowledge about them.

What chakras are and their psychological properties

Chakras are centers of energy, located on the midline of the body. There are seven of them, and they govern our psychological properties. The chakras located on the lower part of our body are our instinctual side, the highest ones our mental side.

The chakras can have various levels of activity. When they're "open," they're considered operative in a normal fashion.

Ideally, all chakras would contribute to our being. Our instincts would work together with our feelings and thinking. However, this is usually not the case. Some chakras are not open enough (being under-active), and to compensate, other chakras are over-active. The ideal state is where the chakras are balanced. There exist lots of techniques to balance the chakras. Mostly techniques to open chakras are used. It makes no sense to try to make over-active chakras less active, as they are compensating for other chakras. To restore the compensation they'd be over-active again in no time. To stop them from compensating, the chakras they are compensating for must be opened.

Now to find out how your chakras are currently operating, do the Chakra Test at:

http://www.eclecticenergies.com/chakras/chakratest.php

And don't worry if it some are open and some are closed - this is normal when you begin working with your chakras. The point is to bring everything into balance, and we will do this by examining closely all of the chakras, along with how to open them, and how to work with them, and how to balance them.

Most importantly, have fun with the test and the information, and don't stress about it, no worries! Understanding yourself can be a tough process, and it helps if you can laugh at yourself.

Many Blessings. . . Linda :smt060  :smt057
