Working with chakra

I was just wondering if anyone knows the correct way to work with a chakra? I do hands on or off healing and have always worked off of peoples front chakra but i recently read in a book that working that way regresses the chakra and that the correct way was to work from the back/spine chakra. Interested to know your views?

To me the chakra goes through the entire body and so can be accessed from back or front depending on the method.

Most people assume chakras are flat because of the pictures they see like the one here on the left, but the chakras are actually 3 or 4 dimenional and are like the picture on the right

exactly what i was taught too that it didn't matter whether you worked from back or front because it would work the same as the chakras go through the body, I was just interested in others viewpoint after reading the book. Thanks for you input Gem.
