Your Favourite Essential Oil?

Post by Gem » Sat Jun 09, 2007 11:10 am

Which is your favourite essential oil?  Why?  What do you use it for?

Is there an oil you dislike and can't bear the smell of?

My all time favourite has to be Ylang Ylang, it is so calming and really helps in nearly every situation, from stopping smoking to calming arguments lol, I love it!

Dislikes... wellso far I havent found one lol but I am sure I will soon!

Jasmine and Neroli are favourites. They make me feel so feminine and I can feel the stress just ebb away. Am not to fond of Vetivert or Clarysage.

Ahhh Vetivert... that is definately one that you will love if and when you ever need its powers. I find it a very comforting warm smell, some say its like old swedes lol but I think its luffley lol. Well most of the time then I don't need it anymore and I go off it.

Jasmine is beautiful I agree, and so is neroli :)

How do you use them? in oil burners or as perfume?

My favorite essential oils are:bergamot, basilicum, and eucalyptus...there are a lot of uses...

Begamot can be also used for children, as also chamomile oil. It is good for digestion.

Lavender is one that I just can't do without!  It provides tremendous comfort - just like hugging a teddy bear! I don't really like it as a perfume - but put a few drops in my bath to relax or a dab on the temples and pulse points in "stress situations".

Have just discovered Bergamont - love to burn this when I need to "breathe better" - while doing Yoga or physical exercise.

Otherwise I love sandlewood, sage and mhyrr when I meditate or chant.

I use Jasmine and Gardenia as perfumes when I feel like "smelling pretty". lol :smt002

I love sandalwood.  It relaxes me when I am stressed.  And I am a lot.

Whew I don't like citronella at all.

I LOVE both Marjoram and Patchouli. I use them both in the bath to relax and to help me sleep. They work GREAT! Almost fell asleep in the tub last night lol

Hmmm which ones dont I like? There is one but I cant remember what it's called. It smells like Black Licorice. Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Eucalyptus Citrodra is by far the best. Unfortunately I don't think you can buy it. It is really great for colds and chasing bugs away. I had to distill it myself.
I am very interested and involved in human nutrition and educating people in this regard.

Ylang Ylang is my favorite.  Can anyone tell me the favourite for snoring, and for stress.

Has anyone ever heard of an EO for fibroids and one or more for cleansing the Lymphatic system?

Lavender probably has the most number of uses among essential oils. It is commonly used to soothe cuts, bites, stings, and a popular treatment for sunburn. Lavender is also known as an insect repellent including mosquitoes. It can also be combined with chamomile to treat eczema. Its scent is so relaxing that the best way to experience its benefits is soaking in a hot bath with bath salts that has lavender essential oils added to it.
