Lotus flower incense

Post by aelis2004 » Tue Aug 30, 2005 2:37 pm

I bought some lotus flower incense cones recently and I love it! Had one burning last night and my mother noticed it was a different one from the ones I usually use (amber, eucalyptus, musk..).
This morning I decided to look up a few things on lotus and found these interesting articles:
http://www.lotussculpture.com/my_articles_lotus.htm
http://va.essortment.com/lotusflowerbud_rzyj.htm
http://www.cuisinecuisine.com/Lotus.htm

Lotus flower can be used to treat diarrhea, bleeding disorders, menorrhagia, leucorrhea, bleeding associated with threatened miscarriage, impotence, spermatorrhea, venereal diseases, heart weakness, poisoning, fever, irritability, insomnia, anxiety, dark urine, hematuria

This is a great section on lotus healing

Lotus is my number one favorite scent in existence.  I purchased samples of oils extracted from the three colors of sacred lotus by White Lotus Aromatics a few years ago and they are amazing scents, each slightly different--the last link provided in aelis2004's starting post of this thread contains a link to a review written by Christopher McMahon of White Lotus comparing the three.  The blue was my absolute (haha?) favorite and left me with a permanent longing for more of it, but it is very hard to come by.  Christopher has told me via e-mail that he has not been acquiring any for a while as the last few distillations "were not beautiful," but I keep an eye out for availability.  It is a light, watery, very magickal scent that I made a part of my own personal signature perfume, very calming and soothing and rather sensual as well.  The lotus absolutes are VERY expensive, on a par with good jasmine or rose oils, but omg.  So worth it!!!
Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are travelling the dark journey with us. Oh be swift to love, make haste to be kind.

Lotus oil is almost impossible to obtain. A friend of mine, traveling in Turkey, brought a bottle back to me. It is my most revered oil. Nothing can come close to this fragrance. Lovely!
