Deletion of Post

Post by Pravin Kumar » Wed Jan 07, 2009 9:54 am

Dear Moderators,

It is my sincere request not to delete any post unless and until you receive genuine complaints. This has been happening in the past and still happens. Unless and until there is a genuine complaint or porn is posted or something highly objectionable which does not require a second thought , do not delete any post. Tell the person posting such matter why the post should not been made and reason it out. This way you will find more members participating and so many old members who do not post anymore or rarely post may revive again.

I am a group of another Palmistry Forum. About 4 years back there was a virtual Spat between a Hindu and Muslim boy and they simply attacked each other's religion. The cause of the spat was the muslim boy posted a topic 4 times as he thought even after 3 clicks to Send he could not locate the sent message. This happens with everyone. After 15 days of mails and all Senior members of the group tried to pacify them, the matter ended. I wanted to post you those posts but unfortunately they have been deleted from that Forum.

What I am getting at is be more tolerant and let the forum be one big Family. This understanding, love and respect will pull back many many old members.

posts aren't deleted,

If the post is in the wrong place its moved to the right place.

If its advertising, porn, rude, offensive or has been compained about the post will end up in one of 2 places, the inappropriate posts sub forum or thread jail depending on the reason its been moved.

The moderators make the decisions about what is moved.

Some people do forget that this is a the mystic forum and so its for mystical content, there is very little room for politics.
Jokes have to appeal to a multicultural audience also and all posts need to be ones that you can show your mother.

If you have problems with posts, you need to discuss this with the allocated moderator for the forum you post in, or discuss with the owner or administrator of this website.

I hope this helps you.

Kind regards
Enjoy when you can and endure when you must.

Recommendation

Post by Pravin Kumar » Fri Jan 09, 2009 9:19 am

Dear Suzisco,

What I posted above was my recommendation and not a complaint. As for a moderator's decision is final I have written that unless and until some members complain about the post being not in good taste or objectionable it should not be deleted. Moderator should come in the picture only after the members complain otherwise everything is fine.

You will not deny there are so many old members who only till a year back were posting regularly. Where are they? Nobody wants to write and recommend and give suggestions but as per their convenience they go elsewhere. It is only to get those members back to the forum I have suggested above. I have myself stopped posting regularly. I stick to my Palmistry forum mostly.

I have not questioned the moving of post at all for sometimes we do not know where to post certain matters and it is perfectly allright if the moderator moves it elsewhere.

Your coments have been duly noted.

People move on, its a natural process, there are very few web sites and forums who can say their cohort have remained the same since their inception.  This is a fixed subject forum, once people have learned what they want to know they move on.

Thank you for your interest and comments.  If they can improve the forum, i am sure the sites owners will implement them.

Kind regards
Enjoy when you can and endure when you must.

Deletion of Post

Post by Pravin Kumar » Sat Jan 10, 2009 1:51 am

Rahulji,

My posts were deleted in the General Discussion without informing me. I tried to locate it but could not. When I asked the moderator I was told that our Group caters to International Members and since the post might be objectionable or some such words it was deleted.

I asked that Moderator did some one complain? There was no response. I kept quite for a long period and then I had discussion with Swetha and Rhuto and the matter was sorted but definitely it has considerably reduced my interest in the Group.

Then Rajeev Sharma's post was delete and again now another person in PM told me his post were deleted. What I wish to point out is if there is any complain from any of the members then the matter should be taken up and the respective member should be informed before deleting the post. After all objectionable post are "Porn, Spam, Attack on each other religions, God, Guru, Priest and insulting anymember on the forum or personally attacking the other member" . If the post contains any adult nature which could be objectionable at least first tell the member and then delete it. Simply deleting without informing the member will definitely hurt him.

This is my suggestion and not a complaint.

Hi Pravinji,

Moderators have got their way of working, and I am not a moderator of such a large forum as General Discussion. Also that our moderators respond and our active in comparison to most other forums.

I am sure there was a reason for the deletion/alterations.
I was wondering if it was in the palm reading forums.

By the way, my name is Rishi... you forget. Good to se you mre active in the palm reading forum.

I would like to say that our mods are very wonderful (Which I know isn't up for debate) but that I feel like informing someone as to why something was deleted along with removing the post, would help Us as member to understand what we did that was wrong. I myself had a misunderstanding over a picture I posted a long time ago, and In trying to find out why it was removed I felt like I was being treated as if I was arguing over it being removed at all when I simply wanted to understand why. Something I viewed as harmless, could have been viewed in another light, and once this was finally explained to me, after a bit of a heated conversation with a mod, then I was happy and I apologized for my part in the misunderstanding with the mod. I however, before it was settled seriously thought about leaving MB, and in fact took about a year off away from here... and only recently come back. I felt that by not explaining to me exactly what was objectionable, that I might make the same mistake again, and was only looking for the answer so that I might not repeat the same mistake and cause more work for the mods.

Just wanted to put that out there so that the mods can understand why doing this might be a good thing, when I valued member occasionally makes a mistake.

Love and blessings,

There seem to be so few active staff members at the moment? Where is Rhutobello and Dhav? There is so much advertising all over too as I notice that there are posts selling that Visual Tarot software thing all through the tarot boards, they say they have been reported but the posts are still there?
Perhaps such a large community needs more mods to help out? It seems that Suzisco is running all over and doing her best but it must take a lot of time.

Hi there, I am not sure where the other mods are but as usual sometimes real life impacts on onlife moderator duties, plus i am in the uk so work a different set of hours compared to the regular posters.  The advertising is just one person who is desperate to sell you her wares.  I don't moderate the whole of the forum so cannot remove all the advertising myself.  Thank you for all your kind words, it makes my duties more enjoyable knowing you guys are so appreciative of my efforts.  Big hugs to you all.

This year seems to have started on a  busy note. I guess we are all caught up in the vicious cycle of life :) Rhuto is on a  well deserved vacation. I am struggling to work with bad headaches and tax returns and license renewals:) I am sure we will all get over this :)
do report or send me a PM if you face any problems.

Actually, there's one website at which I've been participating regularly for almost 6 years.  I've made friends in real life after years of getting to know them on that site.  Pravin has a point- censorship tends to discourage community.

:) I agree that, while moderating a forum as huge as this one and having to explain each of your actions can be really daunting, it is also true that silence often leads to wrong interpretations and hurt.

A regular member can sometimes feel very frustrated if he/she cannot understand the reasons for a post being removed. Since confronting the moderator in question is not a palatable option, it is often easier to write the whole site off as a bad waste of time, at least temporarily, till one can calm down and return in a lighter frame of mind.

This also happens when having a misunderstanding with another forum member, not only with moderators. Since misunderstandings are easy to come by, the more effort we put into clear communication, the better we will all feel.

Thank you all for your great work on the site  :)
