How to dowse
Sig Lonegren is one of the foremost authorities on the pendulum and recommends the following:
1- establish the "Home" , "yes" and "no" positions with the pendulum
2-State your question
3-Ask "Can I?" (ie-do I have the skill necessary?) if the answer is Yes-proceed to step 4
4-Ask "May I?" (ie-ask permission) if the answer is Yes-proceed to step 5
5- Ask "Am I ready?" (ie-are you tuned in to receive the answer) if the answer is Yes-proceed to step 6
6- Ask the question
7-To prevent your mind from tainting the answer, try keeping it busy by repeating the phrase "I wonder what the answer will be"
I also like to keep my eyes closed and head averted so that I don't influence the motion of the pendulum
8-Open your eyes and see which way the pendulum swings
If you get a "No" response during the tuning phase, try restating the question more clearly and try again. Do not proceed until steps 3,4,5 are answered with a clear "Yes"
Hope this helps a little

pendulums
I recommend Gem's Pendulum lessons in the Occult Forum.TJSieling wrote:sorry for the way newb question, but how exactly are these used?
i mean, i've never actually used this before and i read your instructions, but still am completely clueless about how to do it.
Anyways, Here is a basic idea of what to do.
Take your pendulum and hold the string/chain loosely between thumb and forefinger, allow about 2 inches (5cm) of the string between your hand and the pendulum.
The Home(or search) position is usually a standstill position, no movement at all although with some, there may be a back and forth movement.
Say aloud "Show me my search position"
Once this is established, try asking "What is my YES position?
Try asking a question you know the answer to be Yes to and see what happens.
Once you have a Yes position, try asking "What is my NO position?
If YES is clockwise circles, NO may be counterclockwise
If YES is side to side (--), NO may be back and forth(l)
For me, Search position is a standstill with Yes being clockwise circles and No being a back and forth motion.
When you've established these three positions, try holding the pendulum over a printout of the pendulum chart and try asking simple questions. It is always good in the beginning to ask questions you know the answer to to establish a positive connection to your pendulum and to generate successes. When you feel more confident, try asking more difficult questions you do not know the answers to (such as the ones in Gem's class)
Hope this helps clarify a little
Bright Blessings,
Lila

just one question, how do you use it? I have never used this before.randym23 wrote:here is a pendulum board for everyone to use

Dearest Basstonya,
Once you have your pendulum working with you, try asking different questions holding the pendulum over the printout of the board.
examples: how many days in a week, what day was I born on, what letter does cat start with?
Keep it simple at first and record your successes and failures.
The more you work with any tool (pendulum, tarot etc, the more the energies blend with your own. )
Here is a fun exercise you can try.
Take three quarters, two with the same date, place all three face down on a table and mix them up.
Hold the pendulum over all three and ask which coin has a different date. You can then move the pendulum over each one and ask is this different? Try this ten times in a row and record your successes and failures. The first time I tried this I hit 4/10
