Can we change our destiny?

Post by JJ11 » Fri Mar 04, 2011 12:34 pm

A question for you learned people here

If destiny is pre-determined then what difference does it make to have janam patre (astrology charts) if we can't alter things or avoid bad things in our lives?
Also how can doing prayers or certain poojas help if the situation has already upon us/you? Can these change a persons destiny

Just wondered what everyones thougthts were on this?

Hi,

There are so many successful people in the world who do not show or study their charts. Some of them are very succesful too.

Have you thought of this?

Hi RishRahul

So are we saying that these people are destined to be successful regardless of them reading/interpreting their charts?

I think that readings or predictions give some idea about the future without being too specific. A reading may be given to specify a person's fate, yet there are psychics who say that no reading is 100 percent accurate hence we still have the ability to change the course of that predetermined fate. Ahhhh...now I am confused!

No. Not at all!

I just mentioned that there are many successful persons in life who did not take the support of getting their charts read..... Why?.... because lives are reasonably predestined (any changes can be done with the available free will factors).  Maybe they did not need anyone to guide them into it.. or they believed in their own confidence... or.. they did not have anyone to guide them through astrology/divination... etc.

Your question "If destiny is pre-determined then what difference does it make to have janam patre (astrology charts) if we can't alter things or avoid bad things in our lives?

RishiRahul=For guidance through Jyotish, the inner light; which is helpful when a native is not able to find it and needs help in its search.
You, at the age of 22 should focus on the present deeds you need to do.

Yes, it does very much; and it can be quite specific too which you can read in my weblink given below my name down.

A fair astrologer predicts to guide a native in their course of life, rather than tell everything they know.

The change is affected with the available free will destined/given in the native's lifetime.... so that much he can change/try to change.

Hi if you believe in God you have to believe in astrology. And yes vedic astrology has the power to change destiny. But you have to strictly follow the remedies.

I believe the below mentioned piece from OSHO'S  Book :The Path of Meditation will be most useful to answer the question whether Destiny is Predetermined and nothing left in our hands.

Someone has asked: Are a person's actions bound by the result of the actions of many lives, and if so , then what is left in the hands of the individual in this life?

The question is: "If we are controlled by our actions in the past and the values of our past lives, what can we do now?" It has been rightly asked. If it is true that a person is absolutely bound by his past actions, then what is in his own hands? What can he do in the present? And if it is true that he is not at all bound by his actions of the past, then what is the point in doing anything? -- because if he is not bound by his past actions, he will not be bound tomorrow by whatever he does now. So if he does something good today there will be no possibility to benefit from that good deed tomorrow. And if he is totally bound by his actions in the past there will be no meaning in anything he does -- because he cannot do anything, he will be totally bound.

On the other hand, if he is totally free there will be no point in doing anything, because whatever he does tomorrow he will be free of it, and his past actions will not affect him. That is why man is neither completely bound nor completely free: one of his legs is tied and the other is free.

Once somebody asked Hazrat Ali, "Is man free or bound by his actions?"

Ali said, "Raise one of your legs."

The man was free to raise either his left or right leg. He raised his left leg. Then Ali said, "Now raise the other one."

And the man replied, "Are you mad? I cannot raise the other one now."

Ali asked, "Why?"

The man answered, "I can only raise one at a time."

Ali said, "The same is the case with man's life. You always have two legs but you are able to raise only one at a time; one is alwys tied." This is why the possibility exists for you to free the leg which is bound with the help of the leg which is free to move. But the possibility also exisits for you to tie the one which is free with the help of the one which is tied up.

Whatsoever you have done in the past, you have done. You were free to do it, you have done it. Part of you has become frozen and is bound, but another part of you is still free. You are free to do the opposite of what you did. You can cancel what you did before by doing the opposite. You can destroy it by doing something different. You  can dismiss it by doing something better. It is in the hands of the individual to wash away all his past conditionings.

Until yesterday you were angry; you were free to be angry. Certainly, someone who has been angry every day for the last twenty years will be bound by anger. For example, there are two people; the one who has been continuously angry for twenty years gets up in the morning one day and cannot find his slippers next to his bed; the one who has not been angry in twenty years also gets up in the morning and does not find his slippers next to his bed -- which of them is more likely to get angry in this situation? Anger will arise in the first man, the man who has been angry for twenty years.

In this sense he is tied, because the twenty-year-old habit of becoming angry will immediately arise in him when something does not happen the way he wants it to happen. He is tied in the sense that twenty years of conditoning will make him feel inclined to do the same thing he has always done. But is he so tied that there is no possibility for him not to become angry?

No, nobody is ever that bound. If he can become aware right this moment, then he can stop. It is possible not to allow the anger to come. It is possible to transform the anger. And if he does that, the habit of twnety years may prove to be a problem but it will not be able to stop him completely -- because if the one who has created the habit moves against it, he then has the freedom to completely destroy it. Just by experimenting with it a dozen times he can be free of it.

Past actions bind you, but they don't bind you completely Actions grip you,but they don't grip you completely. They have their chains, but all chains can be broken; there is no chain which will not break. And something which does not break cannot be called a chain.

Chains bind you, but intrinsic  to all chains is the possibllity that they can be broken. If there is a chain which cannot be broken, you will not be able to call it a chain. Only what binds you but can also be broken can be called a chain.

Your actions are chains in the sense that those chains can also be broken. One's consciousness is always free. You are always free to go back over the steps that you have taken and the path that you have called on.

So the past is restricting you, but your future is totally free. One leg is bound and the other is free. The leg of the past is tied, the leg of the future is free. If you want to, you can raise this leg of the future in the same direction as where the leg of the past is tied. Then you will go on being tied up. If you want to you can raise the leg of the future in the direction that is opposite to the leg of the past -- and you will go on becoming free, it is in your hands. The state when both legs are free is called moksha, enlightenment. And the absolutely lowest kind of hell is the state where both legs are bound.

For this reason there is no need to be afraid of the past, or of past lives, because one who has done those actions is still free to do other actions.

Dear Pravinji,
Namaskar,
What you are saying seems very good when we have to listen it but its that difficult to make it happen in our life. I am a past life regression specialist also apart from being into astrology. I have more than 1000's of cases where i have seen past lives and past life karmas effect the whole life. Let me tell you one incident of a very close friend of mine. Incidentally, i saw his chart one day. In his chart, the 9th lord was placed in malefic amsa in D-60 chart. This was enough to be indicated that the native has bad karma carrying from past birth. I advised him to go for past life regression. When he saw his past life, it was that he has left his wife when he was 29 and from 29 to 32, he was into extra marital affair. At the age of 32, he realised that he is wrong after being cheated by that woman with whom he was in extra marital. Then from 32 to 34, he performed certain vedic remedial activities on the advise of his Guru and burnt all the bad karma thru mantra chantings. After that, he lived a life like a celibate and became spiritualist in the kingdom. I told him to perform some remedies, which he denied saying he believes into Karma.
Now, he was 27 at the time of past life regression. He has 7 years of very good marital life. When he entered into 28th year, his wife developed extra-marital relationship with the person's very close relative. This guy was not aware about it but disharmony started to be noticed in the marital life. As he was 29 years 2 months, his wife announced about the extra marital affair and left him. Also she married that person with whom she was into extra marital. The guy with whom she married, was so close in relation to the native, that he could not take any action against his wife, though she was into bigamy.
Due to this event, he started facing financial losses in his business and went to the level of bankruptcy when he was 31. Then he again came to me, saying that your predictions are coming true. Please help me out. After full 6 months of penance, finally he met a female from US, who had lots of money and was a widow. She developed a sisterly relation with him and he started helping her in her hotel business. In 6 months, the business started to grow at a rapid speed. Now its just 18 months since they have started working and they are earning somewhere less to 5 lacs per month.
Can you answer what made that female from US do a partnership with him when he was at the stage of bankruptcy. Where is freewill and karma into the scene in this event. I can post more than 100's of real lifetime stories and have never seen any free will.
Show me one chart, where the native has risen to the height and success, when it is not seen or destined in his/her birth chart.

Dear rajat19731,

I am no astrologer but I like what you state and agree with it. I am a palmist. I advise many many people to change and avoid pitfalls which are clearly visible in the persons's palms. How many change? Very few. You have not met those few but I have. I have posted in the Palmistry Forum in September 2010 the feedbacks of 3 clients, one of whom has changed drastically from extreme helpless conditions being emotionally cheated by one and all including her own husband and the other 2 have changed slightly and again gone back to the previous condition almost. Still they too have changed somewhat.

Now this lady of 40, who has changed her life drastically, has brought me so much happiness by coming up in life and she too is very happy. It took her 2 months to change herself through simple meditation exercises whereas there are thousands who do not change for they are habituated to tread the same path.

My Guru showed me one example some 15 years back. One person came to Him on Thursday for Pooja (My Guru performs Pooja on Thursdays and answers and/or solves your problems on that day). This man was tied with a heavy rope in the next room to a Chair. After pooja, which went on for nearly 100 minutes, this man was released. I saw this man coming back happily to the Pooja room. My Guru said " This person's Bandhan has to be removed " hence his hands were tied.

This man had gone to all the Holy Places in the country on the advice of religious persons. He just wanted to get back his wife and his 2 children. His wife had left him after bearing the children and lived separately. This man looked after his wife by sending her monthly money even though she earned herself as she was a Teacher. All this man wanted was that his wife should come back to him.

My Guru told me thus: This man, 400 years back, was a Zamindar. He had raped his wife 400 years back and his wife was then daughter of his labourer head. Now after 400 years this woman has come into the life of this man to seek revenge/compensation or whatever you may call it. It took my Guru 2 years to get his wife back through Pooja and simple psychology. I won't go into much details. Now this man lives happily with his wife and 2 children although his wife lives with him only to gain his property as is the general perception of those who know them.

This man is now very happy, always smiling and whenever I meet him it gives me happiness. A truthful and a honest, hardworking person who has now cleared his Karma. Guru's have this power to improve your life. We too have that power with us but all that is clouded by Maya and Ego. This makes us blind and we are not able to understand the other person in any argument and this results in misery. Once you reach that height where you can understand other's viewpoint you have learnt a lot and improve your life. But this is a tall order and it is not so easy to get HIS Blessings. One may do Pooja 24 hours a day or donate all his wealth or a person to get HIS Blessings does so many things excepting loving humanity by melting his Ego and clear the Maya that clouds his mind. Hence they are not able to change their Karma. God has given you that option too. In fact I was reading another book by Pilot Baba where He has written that God is sometimes afraid that HE has given Brain to Human Beings which is great power and can become a challenge to HIM.

A Human Being (Saints, Rishis, Munish) can live upto 600 years or life long. You will find them in the Himalayas. They have done Tapasya for many many years and are excluded from Maya and Attachment of any type. They are also free from attraction to women. You know Saint Vishwamitra was trapped by Menka. So one has to see Mother in every women and then you can reach those great heights.

Dear Rajat ji,

Thanks a lot for your wonderful sharing of this real time experiences of your friend. I do strongly believe in Past karma. Marriage , luck, happy living everything depends on our past deeds only . U r cent percent rite in telling  everything is predetermined by God. We cant change our destiny. Our Jenam kundali is nothing but a stored document of  our past and when time arrives we learn our past  too . I always used to compare our birth chart to a warranty card which expires with  this birth and gets renewed in our next birth. I t is definitely an  on going process and which continues to many Jenmas and stops with our liberation. By analyzing various charts I too came to a conclusion now everything is predetermined and  what all   the sufferings  we are facing  now has some prominent  connections to our past karma . No one can escape past bad karmas too .Same way there is always scope for getting good time had we done any Poorva  punya .

Dear Prasanna ji,
Namaskar,
First of all, thanks a lot for your beautiful words. Here i would like to add one very unique point, which i have learnt from reading different Vedic lectures like Puranas, Vedas and Upanishads. When we talk about sufferings and happiness in this life, we forget one thing. This life span is hardly of 60-80 years. Even average age is 65 years. So any soul if experiencing suffering in this life, its just for an span of 65 years. While analysing the charts of the people who are suffering in this world, i found a very interesting thing. It was that all of those souls have came from upper lokas to this earth. Whereas all the one who were enjoying luxuries and happiness have came from talas to bhuloka....... means from lower level of existence to upper level of existence.
Now, as per general analysis, its very clear that each n every person/soul performs good karmas as well as bad karmas too. There is no person who can say that he/she has done only good karmas or only bad karmas. Vedas n Puranas say that after death, we are given lokas/talas depending on the overall magnitude of our karmas. Now lets say a soul has performed 30% good karmas and 70% bad karmas, whereas other soul has performed 70% good karmas and 30% bad karmas. So the first soul has done more bad karmas whereas the second soul has done more good karmas. Now, the first soul will be given talas and will be destined to have sufferings which can be arnd 500-600 years as per Garuna Purana. Whereas the second soul will be given luxuries and happiness for some arnd 500-600 years in lokas. When both the souls will finish the fruits of their bad and good karmas respectively, they will be bound to get the fruit of good and bad karmas. So now the soul which was in talas will be sent to bhuloka for enjoying happiness and luxuries for their good karmas and it will be for a period of say 10-100 depending on the magnitude of good karma. The soul which was in lokas will be sent to lower level of bhu loka for experiencing sufferings for the bad karmas they have done in past birth. So if we see, the soul having done good karmas more in past birth is experiencing suffering in this loka whereas the soul having done more bad karmas is experiencing happiness in this loka.

Its because we forget that how much suffering or happiness we have got in the transition period between death and re-birth. So sufferings in this loka is somewhere a license for coming happiness after death. My teaching has always been this for all the people, who are suffering here, is to do as mantra chants and penance as possible. Its always good to have suffering for 60-70 years rather having it for 500-600 years.
