A Classification.

Post by vivekvshetty » Mon Jul 01, 2013 1:23 pm

Namaskaar,
All Jyotish lovers  and learners know of the various different classification of Grahas. We all know the subha and paapa grahas, the male, female and nueter Grahas. The classification as per the trigunas etc etc. But many are unaware of the classification of Grahas into Sura Grahas and Asura Grahas.
Sura means the Gods and Asura means the Demons (as per the Puraanic Mythology).
Surya, Chandra, Mangal and Guru are Sura Grahas and Budha, Shukra, Shani and Raahu are Asura Grahas. Ketu is taken to be in the Sura group.

Another very interesting classification is the outer and inner groups; with earth in the centre (iow, outer to and inner from the earth). It has obvious connection with dashas. Each of these classifications to some of which Vivek ji is drawing our collective attention to, must have specific purposes in practical terms although not exhaustively and clearly stated in available literature (old and new) and therefore most learners acquire these pearls of wisdom but only use those ornamentally. But in truth, each of those are like holograms which capture such a rich body of knowledge.

Vivek ji must be highly commended for the Herculean efforts required in bringing these to light!

Bravo!
