jupiter in Puranas

Janmalagne guruschaivah ramachandro vane gataha. Tritiya bali patale, chaturthi harishchandramah, shashti draupadiharanam cha hanti ravananashtham, dashame duryodhanam hanti, dwadashe pandu vanagastam.

The Puranas also describe the harmful effects of Jupiter. It is said that Ram had to go in exile as the Jupiter was in the ascendant (lagna). Jupiter in the third house sent Bali to the netherworld (Paatal). Jupiter in the fourth house was responsible for the trials and tribulations of King Harishchandra. Jupiter in the sixth house lead to Draupadi being de-robed while being in the eighth house it caused Ravana’s destruction. Jupiter in the tenth and twelfth houses caused the death of Duryodhan and Pandu

Besides, Bhishma being deprived of throne, Dasharath’s sense of loss about his son, Ajaraj’s separation from his wife, Vishwamitra’s consumption of the inedible, exile of King Nala, have all been attributed to the malafide effects of Jupiter. This Jupiter was in the second house Bhishma, fifth house of Dasharath, seventh house in Ajaraj, ninth house in Vishwamitra and at the laabha sthaan in Nala’s horoscope

If Jupiter is malefic in the natal chart, then the person abuses ancestral wealth, religious fervor borders on ostentatious and the person propounds false religious beliefs. He becomes paranoid that everyone is trying to cheat him. The person is ignorant, irresponsible, and does not care about friends. The person gradually becomes less active and behaves in a parochial way among his friends
If Jupiter is malefic then the person has much false pride. Such persons start many ventures but these inevitably turn out to be loss-making propositions. They are quick to praise themselves but generally see others as being inferior to themselves. And they are quick to criticize others. They are callous where their wives are concerned but get on well with other women. They are given to debauchery. Though they are unable to study much, these persons consider themselves well educated and try to throw their weight around. These people tend to create problems in established institutions
Success is when skill meets opportunity. Failure is when fantasy meets reality.
