Sade-sati? When does it begin and end...?

Post by Rohiniranjan » Mon Feb 24, 2014 2:08 am

Speaking and sharing about Shani-dev that astrologers love, sade sati begins and GRIPS our hearts and souls, for certain, it seems and has over the decades now -- the question for chela had been: Why does Saturn love Moon so much but still punishes the nativity and some nativities so much?

Saturn blessings was a simple article once shared and some benefitted those open!

Others continued their merry ways and asked, cajoled, questioned, wondered and got angry and all other similar strategies and questions and professed, proclaimed, and on and on...?

Shani Mahatmay, a wonderful discourse available to all of us in so many languages, just as BPHS is, if studied carefully just as we jyotishis must study it and laghu parashari, helps a lot!

"Any two planets when they are 40 degrees apart, are seen to be in the same navamsha (D9 conjunction)

Each navamsha being 3d20 minutes wide, and depending on whether one planet is at the beginning of the navamsha while another at the end of it, the actual arc-distance between the two planets can be a few degrees larger than 40 for them to be seen in the same navamsha (D9).

Sade sati would then begin when transit Saturn enters the same navamsha as natal moon!

Two rounds around the D9 with reference to natal moon, and when transit Saturn would leave the navamsha of natal moon, sade sati would be over."

Sometimes we modern jyotishis move away from simplicity and make it complicated, and with so many options and possibilities, particularly on internet, Jyotish risks becoming a DOG's BREAKFAST?

Love, Light, Simplicity?

[P.S.: There are alternative explanations too for justifying Katwe's 45-deg rule in the matter of sade-sati, given by others. Those imply the tara-sambandhas (Janma, anujanma etc scheme), by the way. The navamsha explanation given by me and the tara-justification could be additive reasonings, possibly). ]

Dada,

Just wondering how much differences would ayanamsa make on the start or end of sade sati?

I mean Raman against Lahiri etc.

They are ~1d27 min. apart. Saturn takes nearly 29 to 30 months to go through 30 degrees (varies with its state, whether in acceleration or diminished), so on an average (approximately) the difference would be a month or so. Navamsha being 3d20 minute, Saturn would take about 3.5 months (average) to traverse a navamsha. Even in this, it is a conditional statement as actual speed etc varies a bit for all planets as you know.

Dada,

To experiment with this with actual charts, how would you suggest one should go ahead with this research.

Should it be done with known charts only?
