I am leo but just about the biggest wuss you could find...I hate being in the spotlight, find social chit chat difficult and my self confidence is very low

how come I aren't the lord of the jungle?

You should read a little further into the traits of a LEO....there are two types.  One is the Loud and courageous type while the other one is a meek pussy cat....however, both carry within them the furious rage and fiery temper that is quite charastic of a LEO

Also look to see how many planets you have in Cancer or Virgo if any, those will affect the lion too.

where can I learn more ?  I have never read of the meek leo...

believe I have venus in cancer and mercury in virgo

I have my venus in cancer, and my moon in taurus, and i'm the characteristical Leo, i think that you should look in the sun house position, or in your ascendant.

Where's your Saturn and Pluto? Saturn conjunct (or square) the sun will definitely tone down the lion. And I have read that pluto in the first house  can manifest as low self esteem. I'm not sure if that's true I've found that more in 7th house placements. We are all much more than our sun sign.
