saturn returns

Post by caithiggs » Sun Mar 13, 2011 6:24 pm

I am curious about saturn returns. How can you figure out the time period of your saturn return and how to look at what it will unfold for you specific to your chart? I want to know if it is possible to prepare for it too to make the best of it.

Hi,
Most astrology packages are capable of drawing a dual chart
with the natal as the inner chart and the outer chart having
the current transits. For all natal charts we would expect
transiting Saturn to take around 2 and half years to get through
each zodiac sign - it slowly moves around taking 28 years
approximately to arrive so that the transiting Saturn is
conjunct the natal Saturn.

Astro.com offers free chart drawing and if you go to their
extended chart area they will have the natal and current transits.

As an example get transits for each birthday from 26 through to
say 30 years old and you can see how Saturn approaches and
then is exactly on then moves past the natal Saturn.

To prepare for a Saturn return requires looking at the Natal chart,
the upcoming transits and appropriate houses...

Saturn returns typically occur between 28-30, so you've got a ways to go! You'll want to see when Saturn is touring through the same sign as your own Saturn - you'll usually start to feel the effects of it a couple months before it hits your Saturn exactly, though it can be shorter/longer depending on other factors. For the impact, look to the sign your Saturn is in and what it rules, and the house your Saturn is in and what it rules. As Airgon said, also look at the other aspects going on at the same time to see if there will be greater difficulty brought on by them. Something I've played around with would also be a Saturn return chart, the chart of the moment your Saturn returns (like a solar return chart).

Seeing exactly which sign of the zodiac is involved as transiting Saturn
returns to the position of the Natal Saturn is of real value and also
if you have the time of your birth then how the Saturn return affects
your life can be seen from the houses it occupies such as affecting
study or career and so on ...

Just follow what Airgon and thedarkpixie said above. Usually it's between 27 and 29. In general you'll redefine yourself and set up new goals for your life. The whole value system or sense of worth might change triggered by certain event from life or work or even from your inner self. It's usually one milestone of the life. You would like to make the change around 29~30 and lots of people start their real career 29~30.

look forward to the Saturn return

Post by Hieronimuss » Sat Mar 26, 2011 8:46 pm

You should look forward to the Saturn return. It really depends on the Saturn in your personal birthchart if it’s going to create a lot of changes or not, but be ready for some changes. In my chart it’s very prominent in the 10th house, so around 28, I had to move to the US from Europe, and everything changed. You should look forward because it’s really a new platform, and a relief from the past few years, which may have been somehow “heavy” and disorienting. It will give you a new solid foundation, as long as you accept and implement the changes all the way.

Just to beat the horse to death with details ...

One should look at the period where transiting Saturn is about one sign before all
the way to one sign after the position of the natal Saturn. Look at the houses prior
as Saturn advances and note where Saturn goes Retrograde and Direct and in
which House. The Zodiac will give you additional perspective for example. If
transiting Saturn is moving through Libra - then as we know Libra dispositor is
Venus and we can see where Natal Venus is and how transiting Saturn makes
aspects to Natal Venus and also the house that natal Venus is in. Look also
for transiting Venus aspects to Saturn and the house transiting Venus is in.

Many books detail these combinations and some web sites ( google Saturn Return ).

It can often represent very long term commitments such immigrating,
getting married, gaining an advanced qualification such as Doctorate,
anything really that is associated with a new and more established
discipline with a new perspective in life. Almost always new responsibilities
are focused on with a deeper understanding of how ones life
fits in with others.

Saturn gives the action of what is happening in life on a longer term and
the progressed Moon which moves at approximately the same rate will
show how the feelings and emotions ( this depends on what the Moon
is doing in the natal Chart )  are changing for the Saturn movement...

Thanks so much everyone for all this information. I'm still very new at astrology (I've taken a very long break from it since I started learning it). I did try a Saturn return chart. Looks like about November 22 2015. At least I have the next five years to learn more about my chart so I can look into what it means. But I sense for some reason that it is important for me to start looking into it right now so that I can prepare and process what is coming, and make the right decisions.

Dont forget that there is also Jupiter, Mars, Venus,
Mercury returns :) and each transiting planet can
make other aspects besides, the return which is the
conjunction, like square trine opposition aspects :)

Saturn Return
Saturn takes 30 years or so to complete its circuit around the zodiac so events that occur around the age of 29-30, 58-59 and 84-87 will be of great significance to the native, depending on the strength and aspects to natal saturn.
