Introduction to Hypnosis

Introduction to Hypnosis:

Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation in which the subconscious mind is extraordinarily receptive to positive thoughts and suggestions. It is not something a hypnotist does to you, but it is something you give to yourself. Nobody can make you do something you don't want to do or have the desire to do. One physiological definition of hypnosis states that the brainwave level necessary to work on issues such as stopping smoking, weight management, reduction of phobias, sports improvement, etc., is the alpha state. The alpha state is commonly associated with closing one's eyes, relaxation, and daydreaming.

Another physiological definition states that the theta state is required for therapeutic change. The theta state is associated with hypnosis for surgery, hypnoanesthesia and hypnoanalgesia, which occur more readily in the theta and delta states.

Through hypnosis, your behavior can be modified to benefit you. Relaxation is the first and most important step of hypnosis. Your eyes are closed, you breathe deeply at a diaphragmatic, laggard pace, and be unfettered of any jewelry or any other accessories that would cause uneasiness. When you are relaxed, tension is released in your muscles, nerves, and blood vessels. This also reduces the blood circulation which puts your body at well-being. Relaxation is the key to overcome a fear, habit, and many other symptoms.
Before you can concentrate on goals and enrichment, you must clear the mind's passageways. When relaxed, suspend all conscious thinking, postpone decisions and judgments, make no demands of your mind, but concentrate on peace of mind. If a negative thought enters your mind, just let it go. Stay at the state of tranquillity your body desires, then you can concentrate on other things. When you are concentrating on an every day basis, the mind focuses on a problem from the outside. During hypnoidal concentration, your mind is focused on an issue from the inside. Using your mental and emotional powers, concentrate on goals that will give you the spirit you need to reach your destination. While in the deep state of concentration, your mind is clear of other thoughts that might have been troublesome or irritating. This is valuable and necessary when conscious reasoning must be performed, but fatal to the success of suggestion.

it an altered state of consciousness or a trance. Others refer to it as an altered state of mind, or relaxation state. Whatever the definition may be, it seems that the ultimate goal is to access the mind, both at the conscious level and at the subconscious level. The hypnotherapist usually begins a session by discussing the desired result with the subject, as well as any concerns or reservations
In this special mental state, people feel uninhibited and relaxed. Presumably, this is because they tune out the worries and doubts that normally keep their actions in check.

Keep in mind there are variety of techniques and levels of hypnotic trance. It is as much of an art as a science. A good hypnotist would cue into what works with a person seeking hypnosis and go from there.

Some argue we go and out of trances through out the day. Driving in your car, watching a moive etc. can focus ones attention and by pass the conscious mind
