HYPNOSIS FACTS

Post by sunshinez » Fri Mar 17, 2006 12:21 pm

A person cannot be hypnotized against their will. If you resist, it will not work.

   *
Anyone with average or above average intelligence can be hypnotized.

   *
Hypnosis is not sleep, but very much like daydreaming.

   *
     You remember everything.

   *
A few minutes of hypnosis is equal to a few HOURS of sleep. It feels great!

   *
     Hypnosis requires your consent.

   *
You will not reveal intimate secrets while hypnotized.

   *
A person cannot get "stuck" in hypnosis. This has neverhappened.

   *
There is a relationship between intelligence and hypnotizability. Anyone of average
intelligence, or better, will have good results.

   * If  you have ever driven down the highway, begun to daydream & while your conscious mind
is elsewhere, you drive right past your exit......You have experienced hypnosis!

Hypnosis has been portrayed in a very wrong way in films and stories ... Its not at all that way...

It is a science and not magic :)

I read in the paper years ago about a guy who was hypnitised on a stage, the guy woke him up by saying you'll feel like 1000 volts of electricity has passed through your body.  He died a few days later of a heart attack.  I'll see if i can find it on google.

I am very happy to see posts telling the truths about hypnosis. The internet is so full of lies and misconceptions regarding this subject.

Thank you

Question about trance vs. sleep

Post by Utopian47 » Mon Dec 03, 2007 7:34 pm

I'm practicing techniques on self-hypnosis. I did a lot of research and found a few audio tapes that I work well with to help relax but the only time I have to listen to tapes is at night. Most of the time I remember everything the tape says because I'm aware even if relaxed but sometimes if I listen a second/third time I go from trance to sleep. Does this mean I'm not getting as effective results as possible? Thanks for any help, I found sites/books that went over most of the facts but there seems to be some disagreement in the material I have about remembering and I'd hate to think I'm not getting effective results because I fall to sleep at the end of one of my tapes.  :) Thanks again for any help and posting such valuable facts. I wish more people realized it is science
