If the lesson in the upright Rider Waite card is about working in harmony with the conscious, unconscious and higher-self in order to achieve balanced choices  then the reversed does indicated that these things are out of balance and you may just at this moment lack the discrimination needed which results in a bad choice, the result of this of course may well be frustration, or sorrow, even a feeling of having done something wrong within a relationship.

The Lovers being a card that embraces love and the importance that can play in ones life working towards fulfillment, this reversed position could just indicate a destructive type of love,  where one partner  is unequal to the other, a marriage that just does not work - it could point towards immaturity within a realtionship. It may even suggest here a separation.

Whether the relationship is romantic or business this position could indicate that there is a challenge to overcome, difficulties in communicating which resulting in misunderstandings.

Somehow when this card has the opposite point of view it seems to disrupt the harmony and respite we often see in a no. 6 card and instead of acknowleding what we have got we see a more negative point of view, which again results in disillusionment.

Psycologically this card may suggest that we standstill, instead of making any balanced choices we procrastinate and therefore do not take the necessary steps to move ourselves forward because  we fear losing the security we know, even if it is not what we want. We lack the balance needed within relationships in order to be equal.
