There would be no name for you not to pay attention to if you had instead picked the gemstone up outside in nature, so I can only assume that you picked it up in a shop or a place where it was for sale.
I am no expert on identifying gemstones, and you are not getting any responses from other members who are more knowledgeable in this area when compared to myself.
My suggestion would be for you to return to where you originally bought it, and ask the seller to identify it for you.
OR take it to a shop where they sell gemstones, and ask for their opinion.
OR use your local library or the internet to help you identify it by comparing the sample with photographs of each type of similar gemstone, as well as perhaps a description of the typical places where you would reasonably expect to find a gemstone like the one which you now have.
Even if you do not get a 100% reliable, definite identification of this particular gemstone (it could also be an aggregate or combination of several different kinds of gemstone in the same lump), these suggestions should at the very least significantly narrow down the field to a much smaller group of possible candidates.
