Broader Ocean
Broader Ocean
Inches measure themselves when pitter patter hits my window
Rolling rain through the gutters and downstreaming away
Into the earth’s ocean where unforeseen life delves deeper
Floating and sinking, joining and decaying by soft sifting sand
I wonder how long this ocean can wave and tide by the moon
And how often the seashells mimic sounds hissing water motions
A journey that cannot be seen by eyes, melting into saltpools
Breaking into molecules and growing within our mess where a home
Has been outlaid for zillions of species and many unknown to us
Icebergs melting from the northern and southern poles adjacent
Gravity pulling atmosphere in asphyxiated oxygen mixing hydrogen
H20 is our lazy way of spelling that one, somehow a home for our
Beloved dolphins and whales blowing water from blowholes high
As water keeps moving, moving faster and further, we cannot
Hear her cry, just as the tsunami drifted elegantly and destructively
Towards Indonesian islands burying the sound earth beneath her
Being forced out by Hurricane Katrina into the New Orleans city
Rising higher and higher to accommodate all that we throw to her
Drenching the plains and engulfing the spaces in and between
Buildings, unstoppable I reach out to her with my silent mind
Meditating on the emotions that linger within me to speak calmly
Un-drowning my sorrows and forsaking her as the only part of the
World that would ever survive the death of our planet, long lasting
Ocean, may you forgive us for our unsentimental attitude and
Let us live on the land to watch the rivers carry you with our love

That is really interesting Danny...not sure what it means...does it mean I don't know as much as you? That's okay if that is what it means, but I find your poetry very abstract and yet well defined...almost like everything is put in a file in very orderly slots...I guess I think on another level where everything is less defined, almost always interconnected, always interchangable, always flowing, always intergrated...etc. My tribe is too mixed to even try and think about, my ancestry travelled from almost everywhere.
