Soul Retrieval

Post by megan » Thu Apr 12, 2007 4:59 pm

I thought I would share a poem of mine :)

Soul Retrieval
by Megan Garrison

She collects the whispers
Leftover excerpts
From past lives
Tunnels reaching forward back
Into her own darkness looking
For light
Where shadows erase the sun
She collects the lost
Feathers of memory
Stopping the motion between
Then & now: it is all the same
To her
Edging her way
Through the crowd she collects
A diary of murmurs
In her ears their halt footsteps
Behind & before
A mist
She threshes for flesh
For a single singing bone
Unsheathed from the dust
She summons the half-formed
The unnamed whispers
The poetry she collects from past lives.

Thank you suzisco :) - either a person is into poetry or they're not - or even if they are, poetry is such a personal thing.  What speaks to one person may not say a thing to someone else, and even if a person receives something from a poem, the poem of the reader is not usually the poem of the writer (in this way poems seem alive with a life of their own to me)

anyway, kind of a long way to say, "I'm glad you liked it :D"
