Later Believing

Post by megan » Fri Apr 13, 2007 9:04 pm

I thought I would post another poem (this is an area where I have more to share than I do elsewhere)

Later Believing
by Megan Garrison

Did I ever tell you?
I was a child who believed
She could walk silently
Into a silent room and hear
All the past conversations,
Voices ricocheting
Like radio static
Rasping at her inner ears,
Who said
You can't repeat the past?
The past repeats itself
In us all
The time:
Simultaneous and consecutive,
I follow you into the house
Hoping a few verses survive
Still in your voice
Later,
Believing if that child could
Have listened hard enogh,
I might have heard.
