Safe from Harm

Post by Ravenmother » Thu Feb 05, 2009 11:36 pm

Waiting in the darkness I search to hear your voice.
Silently I wrap my arms about the bear you gifted me.
Snuggled in my solace I am forever safe from harm.
Shielded from the outside world in my closet.
Languid in my movements while I rest almost asleep.

tap. tap. Tap. Tap.

"It is me little one.
Time to come with me.
Grab your bear, rise to your feet.
Take my hand and away we'll go.
I can keep you from the world.
Take my hand..do it now!
Before he comes back again.
Hurry!"

"Hurry"

I take his hand and away we go.
I see my body on the floor.
I see the man shake me.
I see him slap me.
I finally have escaped him.
I am safe from harm.

I wrote this after reading about a man who beat his child to death because she wouldn't stop crying. I was disgusted by his actions and decided to rant about it.
