Beltane Light

Post by Ravenmother » Thu Feb 05, 2009 11:44 pm

I wrote this back in may, inspired by a fire I gazed at. This was the 'vision' it gave me, or otherwise the daydream I had. Enjoy and as always, feedback is desired.

Beltane Light

Silently I sit and wait,
Along this river still,
No more bait for my reel.

I watch the day pass,
The leaves they blow,
The sky turns cloudy before the storm.

The tall grass tickles,
Dancing side by side,
Like the worm that wiggles by the tide.

Swept up like fairy tales,
My day dream ebbs,
My reel and pale become my web.

Adjusting my mantel,
Garters and petticoat stays,
I grab my things and save the dream for another day.

Returning to the castle,
The air sucked from my breast,
I glanced but slightly to the west.

In the twilight’s beams,
I saw his figure riding,
As if he’d come to be a bride’n.

Down yon tower wall ran I,
To sit at father’s side,
Breathless yet not awry, like a silken treasure to be eyed.

In came he with his clan,
And sat at the table’s end,
Talking to father as if he were a friend.

To my own eyes,
He arose with grandeur,
And in his hands was place my future.

T’was true love’s wish,
That on this night,
I shared but just one kiss, lead by the Beltane light.
