Don't knwo why, butI've always loved their stuff since the late 80s.

Also, No Doubt.  Some how I relate to their songs...could be that it's b/c i'm in their age group; who knows?

I love film instrumental soundtracks. I'm in the band at school, in which I play French horn, and John Williams (look him up) is a HUGE inspiration to me. His music is amazing, and I feel connected to each and every one of them.

Your mood is very important for music so if you feel sad and there is some nice slow song you will think that this song is created just for you...

I can assure you that you're not the only one who feel this way.
Some people feel connected to some song in particular.
I happen to feel this way sometime also, as it depend on what the song is talking about.
You may cry because of a song if it's sad or if you also have been through something similar to what the singer is singing.
You identify yourself with a particular song which have a meaning that maybe it won't have for all people.

As a songwriter, I guess what is true for me is...
I write according to what I experience in life and what I observe others go through also, least from an observer's point of view. The lyrics to my songs will most often reflect a story or event or growth phase, a relationship and so on and the most creative part is trying to express the feelings and emotions that went with that.
Most often it is the sounds and mood of the music that helps portray that in fullness, not just mere poetry.
So maybe as we all experience similar challenges in life or seem to lead similar paths, we automatically pick up on something we recognise in a song, whether it be the mood or the story. :smt020

Well, it's because artists have gone through the same feelings as you. Or they have been through bad times and decided to put how they overcame it in music. Or they think like you.

They are human.  Unless you're an... an ALIEN!!!! *grabs a camera and chases you around*

Drowning Pool - Tearing Away

Papa Roach - Obsession

DMX - Slippin

Eminem - Rock Bottom

Korn - Coming Undone, Got the Life, Almost every song..

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Scar Tissue, Otherside, Especially In Michigan,

Toadies - Possum Kingdom

Mudvayne - World So Cold, Not falling, and the entire Lost And Found album

The beauty of songs and lyrics is exactly in the way your mind interprets

Everybody has their own perception of everything.

I REFUSE to watch music videos because I feel it interferes with my ideas of particular songs, pushing another's vision.

Some songs I loved when I was younger do not mean as much now...like Nirvana's Lithium.

Some songs I feel:

Nirvana - Come as you are, All apologies

Hole - Miss world, Northern sky, Violet

Sonic youth - 100%, Hendrix necro, Tunic, Schizophrenia, ....well, A LOT OF THEM

Pixies - Hey, The happening, Dead, Tame,

Bloc party - the prayer

Joy division - She's lost control

Aha - Sun always shines on tv

New order - Subculture, Touched by the hand of God

Pet shop boys - Suburbia

Pretenders - hymn to her

Jesus and mary chain - cracking up, happy when it rains, you trip me up, head on, everything is allright when you're down

Porno for pyros - Tahitian moon

Songs made for us.

Going down the road in my car and hearing a song on the radio that was meant for me just makes me wonder. I just knew someone was there helping me thru the day.
