:smt020 Is that all you got? LOL....hey I'm 55 years old & one of my favorites is Marilyn Manson, so you youngins' ain't got nothin' on me :smt015 ...actually I like a very wide variety of music, EXCEPT I hate  rap & hiphop. And I love Beck & RHCP. The 3rd. video was pulled because of copyright issues, so I have no idea who that was. My daughter thinks I'
m weird. She says I should be listening to country music at my age. Nope, not me,-)

Did I miss something?

Now thats where I REALLY draw the line...LOL. I used to work with a guy whose band did that kind of music, just just quite so guar sounding. His name was Chuck from a band called Disaray (look them up) I think they have a page somewhere. I even bought one of their cd's when I worked with him. Anyway, he would come into work, do his job, help others without hardly speaking a word. Guess he was saving his voice for their gigs on the weekends...LOL. I do like some of the heavy metal bands, but NOT that guar stuff.

I'm in my forties and have been a musician, since my teens.
I love most styles and have had the benefit of playing most in my career.
Loud has definitely it's place in music, and I've found my age has made no difference whatsoever to the volume, style and fullness of what I listen to. If I end up deaf in my old age, most likely the volume will be turned up, not down!
I have written soft new age type instrumentals to heavy rock ballads and performed both with various bands etc.
As with most, very often my mood will dictate what music and how loud I play/listen to it, too.
Lol, my friends and I are even thinking of buying tickets to see Ozzy Osbourne in March '08. (And I bet more than half the audience will be my generation!)

Hope this helps in giving you a broader perspective of older people and Loud music, underestimatedGEM  :smt003

Beck rules....he's a real artist in a sea of commercial crap.
It's hard to find good, smart pop music.

I couldn't view your other links though :-(

I love all types of music......I think it all has its place.

The only music i really can not stand is heavy metal....I love alot of the 80's music,id rather boogie to that than some of the new stuff these days....

We cannot change the past...what's happened has happened...our thoughts are what have brought us to this point in our lives...it is possible to change our thoughts and create the future of our dreams!!!!!!

This thread really cracked me up!  My teenage nieces listen to stuff that's soft as tissue paper compared to Black Sabbath, Nine Inch Nails and other "old folks" bands. ;D
Life is short and we have never too much time for gladdening the hearts of those who are travelling the dark journey with us. Oh be swift to love, make haste to be kind.

I can't say that I listen to new music or mainstream. I don't like all the comercialised singers that the heads of the media push down our throats, like the recent Lady Gaga or Justin Bieber (they are the most trendy nowadays). I like all kinds of music except the over-rated genres, and bad rap/hip-hop which conveys a message about the money, women and posessions. In my opinion, metal is the best!

I listen to several types of genres also. I enjoy Alternative, hard rock n classic rock. My favorite is Hip Hop however. I know many ppl dislike it but I am not into the disrespecting women type. There are many grat hip hop artists out there that are not like the commercial stuff out here. I recommend many ppl listen to THE ROOTS. Amazing lyrics. They also play their own instruments. My new favorite song from them is NOW OR NEVER, and THE FIRE. Many of us choose our music on how we feel or what we grew up around. Being from the city of Chicago, with way too much violence, gangs and everything imaginable it's what many of us relate to in rap/hip hop.

There are so many hip hop artists out there that make positive music unfortunately they are not glorified as others like 50 cent and whatever is out now. It's a game of supply and demand and unfortunately the good music is not what is in demand.  :smt009
