Reading for Swetha (I)

Post by morton tolson » Sat Jul 02, 2005 12:48 am

Looking at Swetha’s chart, we can see that the pattern or groupings of her planets form an Open Angle, meaning that there is an open arc of 120 degrees, empty of planets.

People born with this pattern are usually very dynamic, but this pattern tells us that Swetha is also open to those areas in life which are beyond (transcend) the usual reaches of the human personality. So we know she has an open mind, one capable of accepting the possibility of the so-called mystical or spiritual experiences. And Swetha’s judgements depend upon her inner connection to what is called ‘Higher Wisdom’. She may call it ‘Intuition’ or ‘inner-knowing’, but she recognizes that its source does not dwell within the arena of the human personality.

Since she was born with this Open Angle pattern, we can assume that Swetha is quite capable of moving beyond the limits of convention; she is able to trust herself and her own deepest feelings and will use these as her guides in life.

We also see a tight grouping of three planets in her ninth house; ruled by Jupiter, this house represents the power of expansion – specifically of consciousness, into all areas of social relationships. Astrologers identify this house in terms of the codification of Rules and Guidelines, hence the terms such as the house of ‘education’ and ‘philosophy’. Such rules can, of course, serve as excellent guides for human behavior; but Swetha has the ability to move beyond them, recognizing that old ‘truths’ soon become frozen dogma as Life and humanity evolve and move on. Growth then requires new rules.

Jupiter is, of course, a ‘social’ planet, and her Jupiter IS located in the ninth house; therefore it has a strong position and Swetha can obviously GROW through the offices of this great Beneficiary. In other words, she has a natural ability to expand her personal consciousness – and particularly in the social realm.

We also note there are four planets in Leo, and by definition these form a stellium. The four are: Jupiter, Sun and Venus – all in the ninth house, and Mercury, the fourth, is in the eighth house. Stelliums are known as enormous concentrations of Power, and their native usually ‘may’ (‘can’ is up to them) accomplish a great deal during their lifetimes.

And since this concentration of Power is all in the element of Fire, we will now turn our investigation toward thiss element to see the different roles it plays in Swetha’s chart.

The Cardinal Points

The first role of Fire we will examine is that of a PHASE in our personal evolution. As the Sun travels through the Zodiac, Fire is the first cardinal point in Spring, and (symbolically) initiates our evolution as individuals, as a self-conscious ‘self’. According to this view, the four cardinal points on a horoscope then become gates or entry points – serving the same function as do the four cardinal gates to the Inner Temple of a Mandala. The Temple symbolizes ‘Man’ (male and female), and is always represented by a square (earth = manifested) located at the center of the Mandala. In the natal chart, however, this square becomes a AND -- this too becomes a Temple of the Self, and serves as the focus of Swetha’s entire life.

The other gates are cardinal Water (connectedness), cardinal Air (creation of forms) and cardinal Earth (manifested results)..

The second gate is Cardinal Water (Cancer) which begins with summer. During this phase, Water represents the idea of connectedness with family, and the ‘self’ is now evolving its concepts to include its role as a member (or the head) of a family. In the fall, the gate is Cardinal Air (Libra and the ‘self’ now learns to mentally codify the balance and harmony required for all relationships. And since this sign is ruled by Venus, it is Love that forms the real glue that holds us together. The fourth gate is Cardinal Earth, which then makes manifest all that has been learned during the previous ‘seasons’.

We now have enough information to evaluate the role that Jupiter plays in her chart: she will (in the ninth house) be intensely aware of the worth of social conventions and traditions, but she will also understand the necessity for expanding (and even changing these rules) as society evolves. She sees clearly that new rules are sometimes required -- not just for herself, but for all people. I

n short, Swetha is a born ‘path finder’ and leader.

The Three Modes

But Swetha’s FIRE seems to be mostly in the FIXED mode (Leo), which requires us to look at still another role the elements can play in a chart.

http://groups.msn.com/astrolcabala/swet ... &PhotoID=3

In the spring, what is begun by Cardinal Fire (the ‘self’) is fixed and stabilized by Earth (Taurus). Then, in the Summer, what is begun by Cardinal Water (social relationships) is fixed and stabilized by Fire (Leo), which explains why Leo’s see themselves as the Queen or King of their circle of relationships.

But this now induces us to look at the changing role of FIRE (see right-hand illustration). In the spring, Fire is the initiation of ‘self-hood’; in the Summer Fire establishes the ego as the center of social relationships; and in the fall, Sagittarius, Fire now moves, and under the ruler ship of Jupiter, to the universality of all. We now belong to the human race, and seek the most good for all our brothers and sisters.

The symbol for Sagittarius is the bow, and we are reminded of the Mundaka Upanishad 2:3,4 –

Having taken as a bow the great weapon of the Secret Teaching,
One should fix in it the arrow sharpened by constant Meditation.
Drawing it with a mind filled with That
Penetrate, O good-looking youth, the Imperishable as the Mark.

The pranava (OM) is the bow; the arrow is the self;
That is said to be the mark.
With heedfulness is It to be penetrated;
One should become one with It as the arrow in the mark.

It is not necessary to interpret these symbols in religious terms, although everyone is free to make that choice. The point that I, as an astrologer, wish to emphasize is this:

Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius is a part of Swetha’s stellium, and is located in the ninth house (of Sagittarius). Further, Swetha’s rising sign IS Sagittarius which, as all astrologers know, means she will project herself as ‘one who hits the mark’ for all. Further, each and every house cusp is permeated with this same Sagittarian vibe.

And finally, Neptune, that mystical planet of our Destiny, is IN Sagittarius and in the First House of Self. Can all of this be ‘chance’?

In summary, however, Swetha’s power comes from a stellium in Fixed Fire, which is represented by Leo and ruled by the Sun.

Our next and last post then will begin by reviewing the Sun and its powers. Swetha she has no doubts about who she is or what she can do. But her Sun Sign determines how she will put her act together.

And we will conclude this coming post with a review of her Karmic Task for this Lifetime. Unless the Cabala and Astrology are nothing but silly superstition, which I seriously doubt, her Karmic Task MUST point directly toward her basic purpose for being here this lifetime.

Greetings Mort:

This would be much easier to follow if you were working with a real Chart.
