autistic kids

Post by scootbabe66 » Tue May 15, 2007 3:21 am

i have 3 sons all of whom are autistic....they all attend a special school and are all so different to one another in personality and ability...
my eldest is 14 years old now...and he is very self conscious...but a very pleasant boy and helpful,,the twins are another kettle of fish...lol
they are 7 years old and so different...although they do look alike..
george is very clumsy and flatfooted and has a very deep booming voice ..so loud and he passes rather rude remarks about people in supermarkets at the top of his voice..embarrassing!!..he has really bad behaviour problems and an incredibly low self esteem..he has just started medication for his anxiety...cos he was threatening to jump out of windows...2nd floor ones...or run away or stab himself....every time he was told no...or made to take time out for naughty behaviour...he is settling down a little now..thanks goodness

james he is so petite..so thin and fairy like...he walks everywhere on tiptoe...you dont hear him approaching...he gets locked in his own world at times...and spins around like a ballerina because he likes the sensation...he lies on the floor and stares at his fingers in detail whilst humming to himself....he is very good natured...although he can too have tantrums when the mood takes him....lol
he sees ghosts and spirit children...mum died recently and when i took the twins and alex to the cemetary...we had a little picnic...i tried to make it a special day of rememberance..and jim started running over to the bushes at the edge of the cemetary...i thought he would run away...i chased him and when i got near he was talking to someone...but no one there..he sid there was a little girl playing hide and seek...we were definately the only people in the cemetary..it was a cold february day..!!..when i was leaving i noticed that the place where jimmy pointed saying that there was a little girl hiding...was a childrens part of the cememtary...and there was a little girls grave right at the spot...jimmy and george cant read yet...james sees shadows in his room at night and in the day time...and he once saw a man floating in a suit outside his bedroom window at our last house...he has seen the man over the road after he died...james saw him standing near his doorway..he has an intnese interest in crystals...he loves collecting them...and he seems to attract cats....they all love him..they wont come near me...but they all sit near jim..he is a very sensitive little boy...i was interested in reading abot indigo children on the internet,,,has anyone else any thoughts about indigo children

Well you have certainly been blessed and chosen for you to be given the gift of three autistic children.
Autistic kids certainly do tend to show a very spiritual side.  they may lack communication and the skills required to at times socialise but for this lack they make up for on a soul level.

My son is 5 and he is autistic.  He has spoken and seen spirit on many occasions, we even have a photo of hime surrounded by three orbs of light the photo has been checked and there is no way to explain these lights.

We dont always talk why tlak we we can think it to each other.  we hve been doing it for years.

Now in regards to indigo children there is many things on the net in regards to this but you may want to look at crystal children instead. This will probably fit your kids a little better.  Now doreen virtue has written many things on these children and has published books on them should you wish to read them.  Just look up her name or go to her website to order any of the books.

Feel free to pm me if you like or want to  chat more about your kids intuitive side.  As a mother of an autistic/intuitive and a medium myself I do love to share experiences and thoughts on this very subject.

Enjoy your little gifts......They will always teach us more than we ever could in return

Lots of information is coming out about autism .......

I believe my youngest has a form ..they wanted her in special ed...........shes graduating top of her class.... I refused to let them label her at a time when they seem to want labels on everyone!  She is very anti social

Autisitc children seem to have a gift .........they stem on one thing or two and grow with that ........leaving other areas behind.

For those of you with a child with autism are you familiar with a technical called Brushing?

My eldest son, now 21, has ADHD and Moderate Autism.
Throughout his life he has struggled and faced many challenges in his own special way.
He has attended a special ed school in pre-school, tried normal primary school with an integration aide, and went to year 10 equivalent in a special high school, which really concentrated on living skills and has been of the most benefit for his adulthood.
Now he has a full-time job in a factory warehouse for both normal and disabled workers, a steady girlfriend for the past two and a half years, lives semi-independantly in a 2 storey townhouse (with daily supervision as to his safety, formal paperwork bills etc)
It has been a long, often hard struggle to get to where he is now and though he has limited skills in some areas, really shines in others....commonly known as splinter skills.
Since he was little, and was hardly verbal at all back then, his father and I ,being musicians, soon realized he had the wonderful gift of perfect pitch and could play chords on our piano by ear after hearing them played by us, even at the age of 3!
He has grown up with this talent and can now play his piano daily, which seems to keep him calm, when he isn't already listening to music in his headphones lol)
Linked with this, he also taught himself to draw the pianos and organs he saw in pictures in library books. (and now he downloads them off the Net). He won a prize in the Melbourne Show in high School for his art work, and has been on TV news a couple of times. Who would've thought.... one just can't predict when they are very tiny, how much capability they will have and how much they will achieve.
I hope this brings a smile to someone...never give up ...they have a special place to fill in this world :)

My 16 year old Autistic daughter still benefits from brushing.  I think the technique if administered correctly, helps these kids with sensory dysfunction.

And I must agree with you on how much is coming out now about autism.
Did you know statistically in as short as 3 years, every adult in the US will know or know someone who knows an autistic person. Everyone!
That is sad.

This is how the technique was explained to me....
Brushing entails "scrubbing" a childs arms, legs, hands, feet, back, etc. to create sensitivity to these parts of the body. The brush is just a surgical or vegetable brush. It is very soft. The sensory systems of these children are dysfunctional, either hyper or hypo and everything in between. One of the problems with these systems is regulating sensory. By brushing parts of the body, it causes the brain to centralize on the sensations. After effects can last up to 2 hours. This process allows the child to have body awareness, which has a calming effect on them.

Imagine not being able to tell if you are sitting or standing or touching something. If you were to do this to yourself, you would see what I mean.

Brushing is a technic to use on a child or an adult ..

its a small soft brush that is brushed over the body in a pattern .. then compressing joints together all the while talking about what your doing with the child... it has a calm effect ...

I worked 3 years with special needs children ....... I had children who had to wear helmets for self inflicted pain .........and the tec helped them relax enough that they would not bang the head ......... we had a child who would cry ..very emotional .. and it helped.

I had it done to me ...... and I would do it again in a heart beat!!!
