How do you save your marriage if your spouse is bipolar?

Post by swetha » Wed Feb 11, 2009 5:26 pm

Hi,
I was not sure I should be asking this question? why? Because I dont want to burden others with my problems :)

I dont know...

My husband is bipolar. Been on medications for the past year and half. But had been diagnosed a year before. He has been suffering for years but never realized. He is better than before...but still can be tough to handle. We have known each other for 12 years( 5 of which we have been married). This year he lost his brother, I had  an operation... a lot of stress..and he was down.  the meds help him work for which I am grateful. I cannot get across to him. he just ignores me. we love each other a lot and I know he doesnt want me to suffer. I want to support him. only if he lets me. I am not ready to sacrifice my life and "put up with his illness" like his family feels I should. inputs would help :)
