For many people losing weight and keeping it off are anything but easy.

Used entirely by itself a properly customized gym routine is more likely to increase general strength and fitness levels and to bulk up (increase muscular mass) the muscles, which can potentially increase the person's weight.

Whenever the overall number of calories or kilojoules being consumed each day is greater than the number of calories or kilojoules being used, then the excess will be laid down in the body as fat, thereby increasing the individual's weight. Each day which this happens the amount of fat laid down accumulates.

In the end the only reliable way to lose weight is to reduce your daily calorie or kilojoule intake and simultaneously increase how many calories or kilojoules of energy which you body uses. Note that weight loss is often much more effective and safer if you do both of these, instead of only depending on dieting or exercising by itself.

Losing the weight is often the easier part, but rarely easy.

Losing too much weight at once is terribly unhealthy, and will often lead to extreme weight swings where the person loses the weight then almost immediately puts back on more weight than they lost (sometimes called the Yo-Yo effect). Oprah Winfrey comes to my mind, as an example of this.

The really difficult part is keeping the weight from coming back. In addition to going back to your weight loss routine, the best way to keep the weight off over the longer term is for a professional psychologist/psychiatrist to help the individual to work out what is missing in their life, which they are substituting with food. Then find a way to help them to get what is missing from their life, or to get it back.

If however you are talking about a person suffering a genuine eating disorder such as anorexia or bulimia (both potentially life threatening), this should all be left entirely to his or her doctor to supervise and treat.  Any advice given on this forum in such extreme cases could be worse than useless, and possibly dangerous or fatal.

Self help and well intended friendly, non professional advice do have their limits.

Take care,

Weight lose is not a very difficult task. It needs regular exercise and diet program. I think for losing weight it is best to join a gym because at gym we can do exercise easily and can also get personal training service.

Remembering that doing all of these things in moderation with the intention to increase one's fitness levels, may not necessarily always be accompanied by a desire to lose weight.
